Popular Post Samuel T Cogley
No doubt some will disagree, but MQA just got a huge boost from Audiophile Style. Gone now is the venue that dared challenge the Old Guard of the Audiophile Elders. Gone now is the irreverence that made Computer Audiophile Style what it is today. I understand the business need to bow to the market. But the "subjectivists" just won the lottery here. As more time passes, it will become more and more indistinguishable from forums like Hoffman. A truly sad day. kumakuma, The Computer Audiophile, esldude and 5 others 2 1 2 3 Link to comment
Popular Post Samuel T Cogley
I guess the gloating and victory laps by the subjectivists are inevitable. Sigh. kumakuma, thyname, bobfa and 5 others 3 1 4 Link to comment

Sure, OK. But I don't think your recent actions will be seen as rolling out the red carpet for them. This is a win for MQA Chris. I know it seems like I'm trolling but based on the history of MQA here, a strong case could be made that you've handed a huge win to MQA by raising up the "subjectivists" above everyone else. You mark my works, Quint and his ilk we be back in spades, reveling in their "win". audiobomber, esldude and Ralf11 1 1 1 Link to comment

The facts have been out for years. It's all about other stuff now. MQA doesn't care about the facts. I completely understand the spin you're putting on the de facto purge. But I'm talking about the actual history of MQA dissent that started on this very forum, not some non sequitur hypothetical. tmtomh 1 Link to comment
Popular Post Samuel T Cogley
At the end of the day, this was a business decision for Chris and nothing more. "Subjectivists" buy more stuff and are way more influenced by hype and the Audiophile Press. Chris is just going where the money is. He has a huge audience that has maximized its enjoyment of this wonderful hobby. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that in my book. Last week, I would not have believed you aspire for AS to be like Head-Fi. After this weekend, it's still a little shocking, but totally jibes with your new industry-friendly makeover. I expect to see Scoggins back here any minute now... esldude 1 Link to comment

I don't believe this is an objectivist only position. That being the case how can it be a win for MQA. While I think the whole "objectivist/subjectivist" trope is just intellectual laziness taken to extremes, the changes Chris has made are a win for MQA because their proxies (Atkinson, Quint, Austin, Scoggins, et. al.) will feel no restraint to push the MQA lies with full confidence that they will not be challenged here in any way. After all, we have to be civil to the Elders, don't we? This is what they have demanded (just look at Quint's last 10 posts), and Chris has granted it to them with no conditions. The forum now has no place for dissent. Chris has been unequivocal: if you don't like it, leave! kumakuma and Teresa 1 1 Link to comment
