Does he tolerate booties? I can not get either of my dogs to wear them but I keep trying because it gets cold and snowy here in Minnesota in the winter time.

Ive never tried them but im sure he wouldnt like them. He went nuts when we put a sock on him once when he had a small wound. I live in texas so i dont have to worry about snow. There is this cream they sell for the paws. It protects them from snow and heat and keeps their paws at temperature, so you wouldnt need to use booties all the time. You should check it out!

This picture is probably the best ive ever taken. Im no photographer and own no good cameras, just a simple point and shoot camera. This is my buddy, Bobby, he's here with me listening to dire straits as i type this. He is always moving and it is impossible to get a good picture of him. I was able to take this picture when something caught his attention! luckily i had my camera on hand, on and ready to take a picture! Hes my best friend!

very photogenic!

I always thought this photo I took of a ring around the Moon from our backyard was kinda cool (as faint as it is).

Magpie here looks so regal and yet at the same time so silly, sitting in that awkward position. The photo cracks me up every time I go back and look at it.

You mean you actually keep your old Stereophile rags after you have read them?

I typed up something else, but now see what you're talking about. Ha! Nah, who knows what that stack is comprised of.

I got quite the wicked sneer from The Wife when she heard me gasp from across the room.

HA! I know the feeling.

On a serious note, though, (and not to kill the buzz, but...) as much as the tubes and turntable are killer to look at, their performance was not all that. I had the Audio Innovations Series 500 integrated (there on the top) for a decade or so, and I loved it. It had plenty of power, and a lot of - pardon me - balls. I really do love the sound of a good EL34-based amp. In the end, however, and quite unfortunately, it would break up at high volumes. I finally got rid of it, along with the turntable (as well as the Salamander stand there), and moved on to the battery powered amp I have now, and kept the Squeezebox, now feeding the Weiss. The turntable was pretty darn neat to look at, but it too had a fatal flaw: the bearing. You see, it was a one off custom make I got off a guy on AudiogoN. This was his prototype that "was to become" a line. But, the production and material costs were too high for him to make a profit so the idea was ditched. Anyhow, I remember coming to the realization that the device was doomed: I was messing with the geometry of the arm and cartridge while the platter was spinning and I could hear a rather harsh scraping sound. Sure enough, it was the bearing; there was enough friction there that it was actually slowing things down ever so slightly; enough to be audible. Man, that day sucked, all around. All the pretty tubes and that just plain neat-o turntable, all down the drain with their own - as I said - fatal flaws. This all goes back to my post some time ago about aesthetics and purpose; form and function: Would you rather have your music making hardware be beautiful to look at but not the tops when it comes to performance, or would you rather have drab black boxes that are not even noticeable, but make the best music you've heard? Well, to re-use "buzz kill", in the end I chose the latter. The RWA 30.2 and DAC2 are about as plain Jane as it gets; and the Cornwall's are nothing to write home about in the looks department either, but man do they make some wonderful music! Seriously. I use the analogy of my Omega Speedmaster Professional and my Casio Wave Ceptor; a manual wind chronograph movement and an atomically synchronized quartz movement. The Speedo is my favorite watch design of all time, but there's no denying the fact that when compared to the Casio, the latter is FAR superior at time keeping (how can it not be?). Anyhow, you get the idea. In the audio world, form MUST follow function (as much as I love the former) if we're to get at the end result we're all after (at least, that's how I see it).

I've always been fond of this photo. Taken with my brother's El-cheapo camera at absolutely the perfect moment.

Yes, Hafler made speakers once (I had no idea at the time, when they were given to me).

A shot of the Benz Ace (Low) from the same system:

I used a flashlight to light up the body of the cartridge for the shot.

What an unfortunate experience with your table!

I can see how one would be put off from analog.

I also agree that form must follow function in the best design.

To purchase based on esthetics in part or whole brings suspicion of the need for 'compensation'.

Still, one can appreciate the visual beauty of some.

In the end, CA & analog both have flaws & advantages.

It is a V personal choice as to what compromise one will make.

I have chosen to peruse both in order to provide option.

The fly in my ointment is that my available budget is now shared.
