Popular Post jiminlogansquare
In April I finally made it to Ronnie Scott's Jazz club in London, where I caught Gary Williams doing a stylish, charismatic and swinging Sunday lunch show, devoted to "The American Songbook." Here is his latest short album of movie tunes, which is a lot of fun, but you might like digging into his earlier work. He's appeared for years in a Rat Pack tribute show on a West End stage and is one of the better Sinatra-centric singers I have heard. And if you have a chance to catch him live, you should. His voice, humor, audience connection and stage presence are all first class, especially in an intimate venue like Ronnie Scott's, although he also can hold his own in front of a big band. One that note, for any forum members based in NYC or able to visit there in June 2022, Williams will be part of a Peggy Lee tribute show at Carnegie Hall. jiminlogansquare
Crazy virtuosic, yet also super sensitive to her music and her audience. Yes, it is a fireworks display from a purely technical perspective, but it is also a thoughtful and moving performance. Link to comment

jiminlogansquare
This recording is one that elicits the phrase "Exquisite." The singing, the playing, and the recording all elicit delight. The reader can decide for him- or herself what the cover art might elicit, of course. christopher3393 1 Link to comment
Popular Post jiminlogansquare
I recently started rereading The Aeneid in translation* and what should pop up in the new releases at Qobuz than this really rather fantastic new recording of Purcell's "Dido and Aeneas." * Shari Bartsch, trans. coot and christopher3393 1 1 Link to comment
