AfterDark. Project ClayX Black Modernize Thermo Kits for UpTone EtherREGEN

We designed this Thermo Kits for EtherREGEN. The thermo material which we choose is based on our experience to build a fanless i7 Roon Server on passive cooling to the chassis. This is very suitable for transfering heat effectively from EtherREGEN to the oversized Aluminum Heatsink. After applying the Project ClayX Black Modernize Thermo Kits, the EtherREGEN will have positive improve on sounding and creates better operational temperature to work for better air ventilation.

The Project ClayX Black Moernize Kit will help to lower the temperature around 15C or 59F optimised for EtherREGEN and continue perform heat transfer via the Thermo Epoxy and Black Modernize Heatsink.

Hello Adrien,

How is this set up on the ER? Do we glue it with a thermal paste?

No link and price to order it?

thank you

Hi! MasterWarombi,

The kit will included a thermal pad in Grey color + Heatsink, the thermal pad is designed to placed between ER and Heat Sink, the thermal pad is sticky, re-usable, which can safely remove by hand after applied. So this kit will not damage the surface of EtherREGEN.

Adrian, have you tried this both with the internal femtoclock and using external clocking? I ASSUME its mostly beneficial when using the internal uptone clock.🤔

Hi Magnuska,

Thanks for your message and questions.

We found most electronic components working at optimal stage at moderate temperature. That is the reasons and ideas some high end computer runs water-cooling to make music server for HQPlayer.

The next project we starting is to build the server which can run HQplayer on water cooling computers. The water cooling can help to transfer heat effectively with the heat radiator. The sounding will be improved too.

At high temperature, most devices will sound dull with some high pitch and edges which can easily removed by lowering the heat of chassis. Due to demand on addressing the issue, this may help to solve this problem.

Best Regards,

Adrian

We have not tried this heat sink kit so we can not report on its performance.  I am sure it will be fine.

I wonder how many would be interested in a Etherregen version 2 in a larger case including A-B moat, linear powersupplies for both card and an included OXCO clock. The whole package is covered with a giant heatsink. If any company could do this its uptone. I guess a lower price than say Innuos Phoenix Net could be the icing on the cake.

I would be interested in such a product.🙂

From my own experience focusing and spending a lot on the network side pays off when you are streaming or listening to CA.

"Source" first matters IMHO.

Sorry @AfterDark. for the off topic in your thread

It only needs one RJ45 one each side and then a SFP/SFP+ at each side. And clock input only one side.

Optional a 1K clock on an socket you can insert yourself, or a version with or without internal clock, and separate input for two power supplies. Keep old case.
Version with internal clock has 50 ohm sine out.

I’m suggesting this in hope to have a more reasonable priced option. Your suggestion has already been indicated will cost in the 3K area. And I think that is without the 1K clock option. (Which probably will be 2K extra on sale price).

The main issue I have myself with present EtherRegen is lack of SFP on B side, since I’m running a opticalRendu.

However there may be available a opticalRendu with external clock input.

Hi! Magnuska,

Thanks for your message. We are delight to have some products which suit your requirements. AfterDark. will release modified version of DELA S100 and Buffalo GS-BS2016 which is build in OCXO with 2 SFP ports at the back and choices of 1000M/100M x 16 ports.

This version is well known and paised by Audiophiles and the sounding will be outperform Innuos Phenix Net in a fraction of price.

In additon, the OCXO modules will be build in side the same chassis, with options of using the external input of LPS etc. We hope this version can give more flexiblilty to audiophiles for using their own audiophile power supply such as Farad Super3.

Both DELA S100 and Buffalo GS-BS2016 Project ClayX OCXO SE Edition will be release next week.

and what about the specifications on your site?

Other specifications:

Dimensions are —112mm x 110mm x 30mm

DC power input range — 7V/1.4A, 9V/1.0A, 12V/0.8A

DC jack size — 5.5mm x 2.1mm, center-positive.

Operating temperature — 48~52C (118~126F)

Locating the EtherREGEN:
During use, it is normal for the case of the EtherREGEN to become somewhat hot. 48~52C (118~126F), depending on room air temperature is to be expected. Do not be concerned about the heat. Even when hot, all parts are operating at less than half their thermal ratings. The case is the heat-sink. Please locate the EtherREGEN on a shelf where air can flow under and around it. If the heat of the case bothers you, standing it on edge will permit more airflow and will lower the case temperature by a few degrees. Do not stack other devices under or on top of the EtherREGEN.
