Hello,

trying to update my gp-server from 8.30 to 8.40. I ran gp-update several times before. If I try the version update I am getting:

As running gp-update in the web GUI sometimes doesn't show the whole output I tried it via SSH:

GentooPlayerX86 /home/gp # gp-update

or that you no longer see this inscription

ok sym check
wait...update pkg...

I also tried to do a manual "emerge --sync" via SSH. It then asks me for username and password for the github repo. Searching this thread for this I found that in one case the person having the same problem didn't have a valid license which I have. In the GP web GUI it states my system is registered.

Best Regards,

Alex

Make sure you have updated your registration with the new Key version (recevied by email a few time ago)

Thanks for the suggestion, but I am using the new key already. I just tried the old one but it doesnt't work anymore. However, I see there is a new submenu in the GUI that I haven't noticed before:

I used "01.  GentooPlayer Key". The V2 variant is not working for me as it doesn't know my username. -Info isn't working either. Are these still under construction?

Since 8.40 came out, dependencies have changed, that's why it won't let you update, in fact this weekend I'm releasing 8.50, but it won't be possible to update from 8.30 to 8.50, only from 8.40.

Thanks for your answer! So that means that although I can see the upgrade path from 8.30 to 8.40 it is not possible. In this case I will wait for the release of 8.50 and do a fresh install on my machines.

Is it better to do a backup before and import it in the fresh 8.50 install or is it "cleaner" to manually set all the preferences again? I assume the latter approach is better as some settings might have changed between versions and might cause problems when importing a backup of an older version.

Hi @antonellocaroli

once you do update gpupdate, please refresh your page, there are newer up/dw kernel option show up. So Always do a refresh of page after update gp-update is a good idea. It should solve your problem.

Overnight update neatly done 🙏

One quick question regarding the kernel switching - if I just download a new kernel version, but don't select new one or restart, does the previous still remain or is there a new default loaded right away? Systeminfo is reporting that the old one is still active.

Thanks ✌️

Hello, after updating from 8.40 to 8.50 on Rpi4, I can't set the Governor anymore, I get the following error message :

image.png.9b41a54e19a794cbbc4edf8fd74b6a54.png

I also was willinig to know if there would be a way to introduce a trial for testing the CTLO kernels, like play time limited to 5 minutes, so we would be able to listen to the improvement and decide wether it is worth the investment. Thanks.
