chipvn
@antonellocaroli I had issue with version 6.5 on my CM4 USBridge Signature using USB DAC. I use it only as NAA (enable only NAA and Web interface). After every boot, I can play any album without issue from Roon --> HQPlayer --> NAA up sampling all to DSD256 as long as Roon maintain the the data flow. As soon as I change the track manually (click next, change album, etc.) The system will just generate a loud white noise continuously. Stop playing will stop the white noise sound but any effort to play (continue the track, select new track, ...) will generate the same loud white noise. The only way I can play again is to reboot the USBridge Signature. (reboot Roon Server or HQPlayser server did not help) It seem like version 6.5 did not recognize the DAC correctly so it could not maintain the data sending to my USB DAC with correct format. With version 6.4 and previous version, my DAC max buffer size was detected as 131072. However, with v6.5, my DAC max buffer size was detected as 500k+ Not sure if this is the issue or not. Switched back to V6.4 work smoothly without issue. DomieMic65
@antonellocaroli 1) does gmedia renderer work in RAM? 2) i tried to use "Mode 6" on Rpi3 but I got "not sufficient ram available" message. I had upmpdcli, bubbleUpnp, mpd and squeezelite enabled. If I remember correctly I got the same when bubbleUpnp was not enabled. 3) when I reboot my rpi4 that runs LMS the NAS I use for my library gets unmounted. I remount it using "mount remote disk"/nfs menu, after I do "mount clean", and it gets mounted instantly without any need to rescan the library (it sees it normally).. until next reboot! "Enable at boot" is enabled! Any ideas about the issue? RDOK
Hi @antonellocaroli, HQplayerd in its newest version (4.28) now is able to connect directly to Qobuz: This makes it possible to run from Qobuz directly, instead of through Roon as I do now. First comments hint at a better sound quality compared to Roon, and I would like to try for myself. Would it be possible to update to this version 4.28 in Gentooplayer? I tried the update software option in GP for hqplayerd but that did not work. Rob Link to comment

Rob Hi Rob, Hqplayer-client is contained in the HqplayerDesktop package, but currently the gentoo ebuild installs Hqplayer desktop but doesn't install the client, the reason is that the client requires qtwebengine to be present on the system, which is quite a difficult package to compile on gentoo, I'm waiting for a new pc to arrive and I'll do some tests...I'll keep you updated... Thanks for your quick answer. Actually I tried using an external HQplayer client on a laptop; that finds the HQP embedded in GP easily. But eventually I want to use the client inside GP so I can access it from an webpage on an Android tablet. Indeed that is not possible now. Therefore I will be patient and wait for you to be ready. bodiebill
In the past I have used GentooPlayer with pleasure, but about half a year ago I went from a NUC to an RPi4 with Pi2AES and for that I chose moOde after comparison with several players. Last week the Audirvana Studio trial that I started some months ago was unexpectedly renewed until the end of this year. I must admit that there is no SW that has infuriated me more, being so sloppily designed and buggy, but the SQ is great, as was again confirmed when using it play to moOode via UPnP. But again there were problems (hiss, tracks breaking off etc.) and I decide to try Audirvana Studio with GP and mpd/upmpdcl, and this worked smoothly. At first I was a little disappointed by the SQ but I told myself not to be hasty as this is a complex arena. So I applied the same tweaks with GP ('TWK various') that I used with moOde: see screenshot. These are quite drastic and may slow down the RPi4, but this brought the SQ to the moOode level. Then, out of pure curiosity, I tried gstreamer (GmediaRender) and was amazed. This is another clear step up in SQ: more lively, more presence, cleaner, even less fatigue. This, by the way, does not work for me when in ramsystem. And when using gstreamer with Filippo's PlayDir script -- loading offline upsampled music from a shared folder on my Win 10 PC, offloading this to RAM and temporarily deactivating the network -- this is bliss indeed! I am thankful for the Audirvana Studio trial extension as it taught me that I do not need it (using UPPlay + minimserver instead for casual listening) and made me think of GP again. Happy to be back! audio system Link to comment
