I did some tests with version 6.20 and Google chrome (from version 6.20 on I don't include any browser, you have to install it, there are instructions on the desktop),
Practically the system enters immediately in xfce, but the ramsystem still does not finish loading, I waited a few minutes and then it works...
you can check the end of loading in ram with the terminal:

watch -n 0.5 free -m

when you see that the count has "stabilized" it has finished....

Yes, that is the plan...

Thanks Antonello.

I watched the memory usage until it stabilized as you suggested. This was still using GP version 6.10 and Firefox. It still didn't work.

I then ran gp-update and updated portage from the command line as it advised me to do so. After this any attempt to run scripts (without using the ram system now!) from the web interface failed (it said permission denied or something like that). I wonder if I made a mess of permissions somehow as I updated portage from root???

Anyhow, I'm starting again with GP 6.20 and Google Chrome. I'll come back to you if I still can't get the ram system working once I've set things up again. Cheers.

The memory footprint seems to have grown with recent releases which leads to issues with RamSystem modes.  I'm running 6.20 and if I use Mode 4 to run RoonBridge the system shows in Roon for a few seconds and then disappears.  SystemInfo shows only a few tens of MB free memory at start.

Is there anything I can do about this, or do I need to start thinking about moving to a Pi 4 as RamSystem mode is one of the key reasons for using GenTooPlayer.

I've removed several software items that I won't use and this seems to have given it just enough room to load and run.  The Systeminfo below shows only 21 MB of free memory.

actually I can only access to gentoo from my mobile right now, don't know why with Firefox I get the gentooplayer logo but an empty page and can not access with chrome nor edge.

you have to update the web page, completely.

Installed 6.30 with gmediarender with Audirvana Studio, Ram disk. A rise of sound quality. Thanks a lot.

I think my gentoo sd card got corrupted, I can not start it anymore.

So I tried burning the v6.3 image on another sd card and it seems stuck while proceeding with the initial installation ?

How much time should I have to wait (128GB sandisk sd card)

IMG_20210909_154127801_HDR.jpg

The screen will not show you anything in particular, not even the login....

but from what I can see, it starts the hotspot....
is it connected via lan cable??
if it's in wifi only you have to configure the wifi, via the hotspot
