Logitech Media Server and HQPlayer Embedded

Hqplayerd/Daphile (LMS)/SnakeoilOS (Hqplayer NAA)

 

Here is my configuration.  I have 3 PCs on my home network that I am using-ASUS PN51-S1 mini PC (AMD Ryzen 7 5700u) and two Fitlet 2s (Intel atom E3950).  Hqplayerd is on the ASUS with Ubuntu 22.04 desktop minimal version, Daphile on one fitlet2, and SnakeoilOS on the other with Ubuntu 22.04 desktop minimal version.   Most here I think know of Daphile -free and based on LMS with a few additional features/appearance.  SnakeoilOS is not free (but reasonable) and is loaded similarly to hqplayerd, but the difference is once loaded Ubuntu runs in the background, SnakeoilOS in the foreground, and similar to hqplayerd there is a webUI that is accessible on the local network for control.  

 

For whatever reason, for me,  hqplayerd requires "transcode to flac" to work on the LMS plugin settings page as well as HTTP set to "fixed" as mentioned here.  Additionally, I used the drop down tab to apply Marantz additional settings which is an easy way to be sure to include additional formats i.e  DSF, DFF.  When setting to "fixed" HTTP, it is a little confusing, because the drop-down tab doesn't list it, there are only blanks and a check mark on the tab.  I discovered by trial and error that you just select the bottom portion of the tab and "fixed" populates in the window.  Tricky😁

 

Anyway, I think the way all three of these applications work so well together is fantastic.   Thanks to everyone here for the help.

For clarification (tried to edit but too late I guess) the last screen above shows the SnakeoilOS webUI and that PC is connected to the DAC via USB.

I had SnakeoilOS already installed on that Fitlet2 is the main reason- the SO developer includes Hqplayer NAA as an option.  TBH I didn’t think of just using the NAA image.

 

I can see/confirm the stream resolution is correct this way and still I utilize the other options in SO.   I guess just the image would be more minimalist - I’ll probably try it!

This works fine as configured above.  I have tried about every iteration of trying to get it to work with WAV files (not transcode to FLAC) as my music library is all WAV -and the extra step seems unnecessary.

 

No success yet.  I guess the LMS upnp plug-in needs to stream FLAC to Hqplayer embedded.

Spotify works.

I assume the rest -qobuz, tidal, pandora- of the plugins do too.

Just adjust file types accordingly as above to transcode to FLAC.

You need to add/enable UPNP/DLNA bridge plugin in Daphile and configure it as shown in previous posts

I recently used dbpoweramp to batch- convert all my files from wav to uncompressed flac (except for dsf and dff files of course).

Now, no transcoding is necessary and LMS/Daphile doesn’t do anything but serve to hqplayer embedded.  I left the settings the same as above just in case -but everything remains native to hqplayer this way. The difference is, using red book as example, the files stay at 1411 mbps and never get compressed.  Not sure if it makes any difference but it made sense and was easy.  I would suppose it is  a small decrease in processing for hqplayer as no decompression step is needed.

Has anyone gotten this to work by just plugging in the Daphile/LMS machine directly to the DAC?  It seems like the upnp bridge would work with HQPembedded and squeezelite (without NAA) but I am struggling to get it to play.

I recently upgraded the HQPe PC-see signature.  In the process I have found that it matters what device you pick to run Daphile/LMS on your network.  I have 2 Fitlet 2’s (atom e3930) and was using one for Daphile and one for NAA on my home network.  With the new PC I was getting dropouts when upsampling to DSD 48x512 at almost exactly 24 seconds before the end of a song.  Adjusting buffer settings for HQPe helped but did not resolve it.  My new PC was almost idling at <10 percent CPU and temps were fine.  So,  as after the PC upgrade I was no longer using the ASUS PN51 (amd 5700u),  I decided to park one Fitlet2 and install Daphile on the ASUS.  Guess what?  No more drops and no need to adjust anything.  In fact, ran Sinc -L /ASDMEC- Super 512+fs last night for about an hour with a 192/24 source- perfect. 🤩 
 

Just be sure and don’t make the mistake I did and forget to adjust file types (see prior post above) after a new install.🤪

Yes Sure. However the USB part has galvanic isolation characteristics that are hard to find in other devices. Also with the 'current PC it has never crashed . Sounds very good. in my humble opinion the current problem ( which I don't know how important it is and i Hope to understand and solve) arose because of the old Upnpbridge plugin compared ti  hqplayerd 5.3.0

Lms sees the hqplayerd player, but the configuration page of hqplayerd does not contain the player itself. I believe that this " relationship " between Lms, upnpbridge plugin and hqplayer Embedded ( sounds ) is missing something.
I would just like some advice on where to look to understand the problem. Attached are photos of the new configuration with dev-3 and the old one with dev-2.

I haven’t had any problems with the latest update of upnp bridge in LMS.  I use Daphile/LMS and know nothing about gentooplayer, however.

QNAP NAS w/minimserver, iBuypower  i7 13700kf,  RTXa5000 24g GPU, Ubuntu 22.04 LTS minimal server, HQPe v5 x64 avx2, HQPDcontrol4,  HQPlayer Client iOS, mconnect playerHD, JplayiOS, Daphile on Asus PN-51-s1 (AMD 5700u) in Akasa fanless case, Snakeoil OS NAA/NAA image on Fitlet2 , Lampizator Big 7 MKII Balanced, Pass XVR1, Pass X5, Pass XA 100.5’s, PSB Stratus Gold(i)’s, Vandersteen 2wq’s.

As far as GentooPlayer is concerned, I have already answered above, GentooPlayer on sparky was abandoned a long time ago, years now, I don't even remember what the system was like, as suggested, the advice is to switch to another system that supports that HW.
