Lebouwsky
The version I use is essential, but have never red anything on AO website about its disadventages. Is there an “old” iso file to download that doesn’t contain all the unwanted extra’s? And what are these extras in ws2016 you don’t want? Last but not least, how do you keep your system protected without the updates? Doesn’t your system become an easy target by that? Link to comment
ALRAINBOW
Funny a music server should not be used for web surfing period. While I do to down load drivers certain times it never should be done.also AO shutsdown windows defender as well as updates. Updates while they say are security updates just like our phones by the way are not all sucurity they are telemetry witch is a nice way of saying we have all you do and all you see and all the places you go. Also what apps and so on. Let’s use pornhub as an example they pay to have info sent to them. All OS but linux has This in them. So if you like let’s asian girls on pornhub you may rec an email about meeting Asian woman. What the os does to us is malicious but allowed. Link to comment
ALRAINBOW
The standard desktop or data desktop is fine ok if new remember I use scrips and AO they remove updates as items I don’t need. Some call it stripping. Here is a tip. Go to control panel / device mng / disk drives double click in prooerties go to policies uncheck write cashing leave better performance with a black dot. This makes your disk drive work without saving files while using it. It will sound better now. Link to comment
KingRex
Also, don't run uninstall without running the AO service tool first. It ate my OS and I had to reset the machine. Only took a few hours but I was pissed. Link to comment

With its embedded CPU it draws less then 15watt. I got one in my server running WS2016, sounds great. Pm me if you want more info since this is a OS thread. Link to comment
KingRex
Hey Lebouwsky. Sent you a PM. Did you get it? Link to comment

A major benefit of this board is that the Atx connection and the CPU can be powered separately. This is a rare thing on an embedded cpu motherboard. This is one way that Innuous gets good SQ. One can do the same with any motherboard with multiple power inputs which is standard on most high power boards. Pareto Audio aka nuckleheadaudio Link to comment
KingRex
I can only find X10SBA-O for sale. Is this the same board. I also see the X10SBA-L which is not the same board. Link to comment
KingRex
This is the MSAT I wanted to use for the OS https://www.impactcomputers.com/lmt-64m3m.html?gclid=Cj0KCQiA-c_iBRChARIsAGCOpB2tR81r41yDfNfEm-gvZehzYJyh2-U1GEgU64rddVaxNvz1YHUb1LUaAoLwEALw_wcB Link to comment

This is the one to get, the SBA board has some extra features such as SATA 3 but connects to Marvel controller rather than direct to CPU plus an M2 SSD feature which shares the Lanes used by LAN so no real advantage. KingRex
I bought the mother board. I now need an MSATA. Trying to figure out the best to use. My RAM should work so I will move that from the existing board to the new board. I want a new MSATA hard drive so I can configure it clean and not mess up my old one that works fine. The old one is going to be formatted and turned into Linux anyways. I got the X10SBA-O as I want to use the MSATA hard drive. Plus I already have micro PCI from my Ethernet card. I don't want to start changing cabling. I want a fair comparison of Win 10 to Server 2016. Link to comment
KingRex
I bought the LMT 64M#M chip Pretty soon I will be able to comment on Win 10 vs Win Server 2016 with AO, HQ and Roon/Qobuz Link to comment
kelvinwsy
would be v helpful to hear your findings .. I did the switch from Win10 Pro to WinServer2016 Core.. Same Pc 6700k jyst 2 different SSDs (assuming the Intel SSD ..see image below is not so superior to the Gen2 SSD with Win10Pro ) ... the WinServer 2016Core wiped the floor with Win10Pro 🤔 It took 5min and 3 of my Fav tracks. 1st 30s imoression confirmed on 2-3 repeat tests when there were system upgrades! Now on WinServer2016Core .. Still superior .. took 10-20 min to verify(on a new Samsung 860Pro 256gb SSD) Summarizing my findings.. Win10Pro soubds 'busy' ,'noisy' , 'cluttered' Using Well recorded Live Albums..the low level background noises, audience responses and noise, Band members lower level music making -- are very telling .. almost instantly noticeable in NOT having the noise masking all that low level signals in the data/music stream Notes hv better starting transients, overall better tonality and the Decay is so so much satisfying.. it just goes on and on abd drifts into the distance and final sikence Ss a result i use Win10pro for file mgt of jy Music only SSD.. and other downloading chores Try it and see if u agree with my observations YMMV Kelvin motberg 1 Link to comment
