MP1968
Although this technical stuff sometimes fries my brain, it's also very satisfying when it works out in the end. Largely because this forum is an excellent source of help. I logged into my router, and fixed the IP address of the laptop which has HQP Desktop on it. That’s the IP address I used when setting HQP in Roon, and so far it’s working. … Many thanks @Miska and @Carousel Miska 1 Link to comment

The key thing in my experience is to make sure that the IP address is the correct one when setting up HQP in Roon, and also fixing this IP address in your router. Also to be aware that if you move from wifi to wired (ethernet) then the IP address will change, and will have to be updated in Roon. This tripped me up this morning, until I figured it out. 1laraz 1 Link to comment
Carousel
And if you ran an Antipodes K50, there would be two IP addresses for the one box! Link to comment
1laraz
Are there currently CPUs that can handle all filters up to DSD1024 without needing a GPU? As per benchmarks, AMDs 79xx series are >50% more powerful than i9-14900KS Link to comment
danielB
Good question..... Ryzen 7950x3d can t do it. Maybe a threadripper 7000 set to 5.7Ghz or a 14900ks at 9Ghz under liquid N,but I think the pc will sound like a SU-57 or F35 in both cases Link to comment
Popular Post chipvn
With HQPE OS 5.5.1, my heavily underclock, undervolt i7-14700K in HDPlex H3V3 passive cooling case finally can do upsampling from 24/48 to DSD1024x48 with poly-sinc-gauss-long / ASDM7EC-Light; multicore=enable and ecores=filter. 8 P-cores run max clock = 4.8GHz, 12 E-cores run at max based clock = 2.5GHz. Power consumption is really low with PL1 = 59W / PL2 = 65W. CPU temperature after 1 hr is about 71-72oC but case temperature are cooler than before (might be because the CPU temp was read from the 2 main load P-cores which most of the time are running at 4.8GHz) Above setting can also do 24/48 to DSD1024x48 with poly-sinc-gauss-xla/ASDM7EC-Light but CPU temp will be about 75oC after about 1 hr. Popular Post Miska
Some testing results from today, for those who seek to build lower TDP servers for HQPlayer. My i9-13900T with DDR5-6400 CL32 memory can do DSD1024 with ASDM7EC-light when E-cores are set to filter. While i9-14900K can do the same with ASDM7EC-super. Both cases without GPU's help. So the E-cores offload helps quite a bit this case, since it enables the T-model to reach DSD1024. Thank you Miska for sharing.Looks like is working for AMD as well. For 4 days i ve been trying, and the best i ve got till now with my 7950x3d was a 6min song with only 3 ms long stutters under a not so fine tuned audiolinux -7Ec-super,sinc-MGa,gauss hires mp.Not a chance on windows with them settings. In fact,dsd512 sounds decent enough after i ve read that dsd1024 is over the specs of usb audio:)) Miska 1 Link to comment
