Music for testing Audio Equipment

I love that album. Pat Metheny is in top form here. I only wish the sound was less dry.

Miles....every album is a must have, with a few exceptions from the '70 and '80.

Oh yeah, this is Garrett's coltrenesque.. But how many saxophonists weren't influenced by Trane.?

Pat Metheny Group is quite boring for me but as a sideman he can be fantastic. I'm sure you know this album:

But maybe you don't know Solveig Slettahjell, Knut Reiersrud & In The Country - 'Trail of Soul'. Worth checking out in my opinion!

I generally like Miles from every period too, also from 70s. I agree - in the 80s he recorded some lower quality music.

Yes I tend to agree that some of Pat's best work is as a sideman.

And thank you so much for the tip ; Solveig Slettahjell, Knut Reiersrud & In The Country, it sounds very very interesting, judging from the you tube sound track, I will have to buy it. That harmonica solo is worth the whole album!

The mood reminds me of my old favorite Carmen Gomes, same concept of reworking a well known song in a surprising fashion, showing of new aspects of the song.

This brand new release has got what I am talking about in spades,

excellent placement with every instrument clearly positioned on the soundstage, marvelous SQ, natural but also very engaging,

and music of beauty but with a few fresh twists and turns.

It is a superb album. Startas' fresh approach blending all kinds of influences to such gorgeous whole, is a very welcome audition to the world of music.

Track three is audiophile heaven. If that does not sound good on your system, you better start tuning!

I concur. The album is perfect for speaker placement or comparing headphones for depth and sound stage.

Superb SQ.

Same band but without Joshua, this might Pat`s best small group recording, and it is an ecm album, so SQ is fine,

Hi everyone !

Angus Stone "Heart Full of Wine"

Raz Dwa Trzy "Koncert 20-lecia zespolu"

Jaromir Nohavica "Tak me tu mas"

It's my first post on this forum, although I watched some interesting posts since one year of course :) Regards,

Hi! I bet not many people here know Raz Dwa Trzy.. I do :) Got their first album. Does 'Koncert..' really sound so good? If so I will consider buying it!

This is production wise one of his better albums with the Pat Metheny Group and for the purpose of this thread a great album for experiencing a wide sound stage.

My problem with that album sound wise is that everything is spread out left to right, piano , drums, guitar, it is as if they are standing on top of each other, there is no placement at all.

I understand your point but do not agree that there is no placement. If you listen carefully there actually is but there is also a very big amount of added reverb that may confuse the image a bit.

Placement is irrelevant with synthesized music, this type of production is about creating a sonic picture, not trying to clinically mimic a quartet. Still Life is a brilliant electronic and acoustic journey and one of his best.
