  1. Here is an in depth interview with Jim Anderson, well worth the read. masters-behind-mix-behind-scenes-glimpse-music-making-audio-engineer-jim-anderson
  2. Yes having the master format of the recordings you like is of course preferable. 😀
  3. Highly recommended and very well recorded; vestbotrio "flowmotion"
  4. Very interesting, Thanks for posting. The 2 reviewers agree on several points. However the 2nd review is partly wrong in so far that it's only a part of the sampler that is made with only one mic. The Witmer album, "Free", (a personal favorite of mine) is a multi mic album and so is the Carmen Gomes sings the Blues and a couple more. Great sounding all of them but not "One Mic". I witnessed a friend of mine download the sampler from the https://soundliaison.bandcamp.com/ site and I must say it works very well that site.
  5. I wonder if BandCamp will start doing hi-res streaming in the future as a response to apple.
  6. On Carmen's own bandcamp site you can get the 16/44 files but also order the very fine sounding Red Book CD versions. But of course there is something to be said for owning the original one to one copy of the master file for an audiophile classic album like Thousand Shades of Blue download from the Sound Liaison site.
  7. And ideal combination for the One Microphone recording technique. The music is lovely and so well played.
  8. Very great album indeed. I'm completely into Paul Berner at the moment, as I'm enjoying his latest released recording with Monty Alexander as well as his previous Sound Liaison albums. The Road to Memphis download is one of my all time favorite audiophile downloads and for pure straight ahead jazz his work with Monty on Live at Bubbas is so very enjoyable.
  9. Native DSD has a Carmen Gomes special going with an interesting producers note comparing the recording method on her DXD albums. Recording Report; In The Studio with Carmen Gomes – Producer’s Note It's only about mic placement and such, not about bits, but very interesting none the less😀.
  10. But if the remaster is done by the original engineer using better equipment, would that be acceptable?
  11. Is there a big difference between the original and the remaster?
  12. Very impressive indeed. And Terrance Blanchard wrote the liner notes. I would love to hear him record for the label with this 1 microphone technique. His "Simply Stated" album is favorite of mine, but if it had been recorded like this, I would rate up there with Kind of Blue.
  13. Sound Liaison engineer Frans de Rond has won the Prix Europe for his engineering work on a radio play. The jury found the sound highly appealing. for many of us here that comes as no surprise.
  14. I had a look at the site and all the way at the bottom I found this brand new One Mic recording. Very enjoyable New Orleans inspired album. And the sound is exquisite.
  15. And that's why we have to keep supporting the small independents like Reference Recordings , Native DSD and SOUND LIAISON Those companies still care about those kind of 'minor' details.
  16. Yes and what a lovely recording. D. Gordon was one of the great balladeers.
  17. Very nice album. Bass is a bit boomy, but it does have that one mic quality, no phase cancellation?
  18. The new Carmen Gomes DXD bespoken in Joe Whips fine article; https://audiophilestyle.com/ca/reviews/sound-liaison-one-mic-recording-r957/ should be mentioned here, if not for the music and the excellent SQ then at least for the 27hz low bass note opening the album. Talking about bottom! This is what I wrote about the RedBook CD version I bought from Carmen's CARMEN GOMES BANDCAMP site. (DXD and other formats are now available from SOUND LIAISON site.
  19. and check out 19 year old Danish bassist NHOP, playing with Bill. At that time maybe the closest anyone got to Scott.
  20. Check out Bobo Stenson's ''Goodbye'' featuring Paul Motian the drummer from the first Bill Evans trio. It is a beautiful album that shows how Bill's ideas has influenced a whole generation of players. And bassist Anders Jormin follows in Lafaro's footsteps. https://www.ecmrecords.com/shop/143038751751/goodbye-bobo-stenson-anders-jormin-paul-motian
