Sam Lord
There's Jimi, and there's this guy:And before Jimi, Of course they are all great artists, it's not a competition. Then I found tonight, and just broke down. I don't know anything about Bo Diddley's relations, but the universally understood grief of two partners in trouble just hit me, it's my current situation. This paragon of machismo in music sounds hurt and tender, and shows his brilliance and range. Other favorites also have a story, like Inti-Illimani, who were exiled from Chile for 15 years under Pinochet, then returned. One of the great ensembles in the world. My favorite albums are: Canto de Peublos Andinos, and Leyenda (concert with John Williams and Paco Pena) On a different note, even simple, repetitive music can distinguish a film. Here is a trailer for a film about freeskiing (my other passion along with music), and I think it's extraordinary work, especially for an inexpensive project, by Candide Thovex: Finally some Jackson Hole skiing fun: The Cat in the Hat Mac Mini 2012 with 2.3 GHz i5 CPU and 16GB RAM running newest OS10.9x and Signalyst HQ Player software (occasionally JRMC), ethernet to Cisco SG100-08 GigE switch, ethernet to SOtM SMS100 Miniserver in audio room, sending via short 1/2 meter AQ Cinnamon USB to Oppo 105D, feeding balanced outputs to 2x Bel Canto S300 amps which vertically biamp ATC SCM20SL speakers, 2x Velodyne DD12+ subs. Each side is mounted vertically on 3-tiered Sound Anchor ADJ2 stands: ATC (top), amp (middle), sub (bottom), Mogami, Koala, Nordost, Mosaic cables, split at the preamp outputs with splitters. All transducers are thoroughly and lovingly time aligned for the listening position. Link to comment
Savage
I would think blasphemy but no [video=youtube_share;oZvVeQI0heg] Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not." — Nelson Pass Link to comment

RankStranger
You can watch the whole this from the start, if you feel you must. To me it's a bit like a who's who of bland 70's rock. To proceed directly to the face-melting guitar solo, and the only reason I keep watching this video again and again, skip straight to about 3:25. In fact, once you have watched it once, go back again and marvel at how banal and middle-of-the-road all of their performances are up to that point, especially the guy soloing at 2:05 (Steve Winwood?). They're the quintessential faded rock stars. Then, when Prince's solo really gets going it's like they're embarrassed at how he has just wiped the stage with every last one of them and they all seem to wake up a bit, even the lighting guy. Gold! Happy Xmas! Standard Mac mini 2010/iTunes (ALAC)/Pure Music & Pro-Ject RPM9.1/Ortofon Rondo Blue/Project PhonoBox SE -> Bel Canto DAC2.5 -> Acurus A200 -> Aphion Argon2 Anniversary/Impact500 & Sennheiser HD650 -> Comfy couch.
