    JPLAY for iOS Is Now Available

    Hi Guys, just a quick update. The UPnP control point app I've been using for seemingly ever, is now available in the App Store! I love this app and vow to never install mconnect on my iPhone or iPad again :~)

    I know @Marcin_gps and his team have been working to perfect the app for a long time. I'me very happy to see this come to fruition.

    The app is well worth the $49.99 /yr price.

    Much more to come.

    Technically the apps don’t connect to any network, including WiFi. Your operating system connects to that network. The apps use the networks available from the operating system.

    Thanks. I contacted Marcin who is working on a solution for owners of the Chord Poly and 2Go

    Your Poly hotspot has an active internet connection? App needs internet connection to validate your subscription status.

    When the Poly is in hotspot mode, it shows up as a “network” in Settings > WiFi.

    See my post with the added pics from iOS and MConnect

    Just an idea … what if you activate your phone hotspot and connect the Poly to that hotspot?

    Yes, I notice the Wi-Fi connection, but that Wi-Fi connection has internet? If you go to Safari are you able to open sites?

    If not, try to launch app with a "normal" Wi-Fi connection and then change to Poly's hotspot, after that try to find devices.

    App requires internet at launch to validate subscription.

    Well, you ruined my plans. One of major reasons I wanted to abandon Roon is a new requirement (since version 2?) for permanent internet connection.

    Why subscription must be validated at (every) launch if the subscription is on yearly basis?

    My guess is it would take new logic to know the subscription start date and not check for a renewal untili the end date approaches.

    I would try opening the app while connected to the Internet, then switch over to the Chord device.

    I tried the above. Doesn't work. MConnect doesn't need a Wifi connection to validate subscription and will find the Poly hotspot without a problem

    Because Mconnect doesn't offer subscriptions.

    That works great thanks. Thanks for your input. The idea of the Chord Poly Hotspot is to be able to use your phone to play the Poly's SD card music files while on the go. So, you don't need a "normal" active internet connection. The MConnect and other apps work just fine but don't need a "normal" active wifi connection to start the apps.

    Thanks for your input here. Very much appreciated. Yes doesn't look like the Chord Poly/2go users will be able to use JPlay to play their SD cards on the go. JPlay has such good sound otherwise.

    Yes, MConnect does not use subscriptions or in-app purchases, so they don't need to validate that user is allowed to use their app. Right now you need internet to start JPLAY app, but has I said we will look on a solution, so user can make a few app launchs without internet connection.

    Yes that would be great. Thanks so much. Looking forward to subscribing. JPlay is the best sounding app I've heard to date.

    I don't mean this to be cheeky, but I am confused.  I understood JPlay to be a controller app for DLNA/UPnP servers.  If that is what it is, doesn't the server-renderer combination rather than the controller determine the quality of playback sound?  I don't recall JPlay making sound quality improvements the basis of their sales pitch, although I may have missed that.  However, if my understanding of how controllers work is correct, I wouldn't expect it to have made such a claim.

    No worries. I believe that I hear some differences with MConect, Glider, and 8 Player and now JPlay. Could be placebo, I guess. The app itself is nice and works well, for sure.

    @Mike Rubin @vlomdmdiv

    Control points can have a great impact on sound quality, because how(eventing vs polling) and how often they communicate with servers and especially renderers. Also some control point may force Proxy songs through them, which can be good for compatibility but will make it sound worse.

    In JPLAY we minimize network activity and communication between app and devices, so your renderer can plays at is best.

    In your renderer Settings select "Update Time"=300 and if you use TIDAL try to enable the option "Force HTTP"(note that this option may not work in every region).

    Also if you have OpenHome installed/enabled try to disable it.

    @Mike Rubin

    Have you tried the new version(1.0.3). After JPLAY detects your JRiver for the first time, it should detect it all the time on every device search.

    @stefano_mbp

    Have you tried the new option "Download Artists/Composers images"? There is also an option to "Download Genre images" for MinimServer.

    Thank you, @mnuno10.  I will download 1.03 now.

    Thanks for addressing the sound quality issue.  Unfortunately, I was unable to find a way to adjust the update time in my renderer’s software.

    "Update Time" and TIDAL's "Force HTTP" are JPLAY app settings.

    To change "Update Time" in JPLAY app go to Settings, select your renderer settings(settings icon near your renderer name) and you should see an "Update Time" field.

    To change "Force HTTP" in JPLAY app go to Settings, select TIDAL settings(settings icon near TIDAL name) and you should see an "Force HTTP" checkbox.

    when going to track details (scrolling down) in Now Playing screen none of the details are clickable, would be fine they were as it makes faster to find albums from same artists, composers …

    It works! Thanks

    I didn’t tried Genres images as I don’t have specific images

    … and more on 1.0.3 version

    • no more freezing when removing a library
    • loading a new library after removing a different library doesn’t freeze the app anymore
    • I could finally load my full library
    • uploading the library (11258 albums, 184307 tracks, 17036 artists) is definitely faster:
    • - before it took 45’ to reach 99% and then aborted
    • - with the new version it took 17’ to reach 99% and it finally ended as it should in a couple of minutes

    Really a good job!!! Thanks

    That's great! Thank you.

    It seems that you are playing a track that you have added through "By Folder" section. Is that right?

    This tracks are not indexed by the app, so fields are not clickable. We strongly recommend that after sync a library, you use sections other than "By Folder",  to browse your library and play tracks. This way you can enjoy all app features.

    We opted to don't link synced tracks with not synced ones, because many libraries return different metadata/paths for the same track based on the folder that you are navigating and this can lead to odd behaviours. But we will try to improve this.

    Hello. I installed version 1.0.3 on my iPad, it keeps crashing. I uninstalled the app, restarted the iPad and installed it again, the situation is the same, crash after about 30 seconds, I can neither download favorites from Qobuz nor synchronize MinimServer. I don't know what to do with it, version 1.0.2 was perfectly stable for me.

    Yes, it is … using Minimserver intelligent browsing feature is my default browsing mode as I have a lot of choices about metadata available, while there are very few in My library and Local Network sections

    These are all the entries I can use starting my browsing from By Folder

    Same happened to me when updating the app via App Store. One year old iPad 9.

    Deleting the app and reinstalling solved the problem, after indexing library everything works well.
