The better the system, the more everything matters ...and after that you are stuck with listening to the actual recording quality.

I tried the Ghent ethernet cable between my bridged server and endpoint but pulled it out in favor of a Blue Jeans cable. I thought that the Ghent took away the magic that I had finally found through other upgrades. I know that is a bit vague but there was a loss of focus and depth. I moved it to another upstream part of my system so that it will get some break-in time. I will try it again when my ER arrives, hopefully in a week or so. I do use Ghent for USB and they are great for that.

 

PS. I also made the mistake of ordering a half meter version of the Ghent, which is somewhat think already, and not taking into consideration the orientation of the ethernet ports of the two devices. The are opposite. With the short cable I had to literally turn my NUC upside down to avoid a bad twist for the short cable. I need either a longer cable or to have the two cable ends built with a reverse orientation one to the other.

 

The Blue Jeans cable is thinner, longer and sounds great.

I use a similar heavy doorstop to mass-load my DAC and a small Mapleshade brass weight for my ER.

 

For those in the US take care to note shipping costs. On Amazon (USA) the doorstop is only ~$5 USD but shipping is ~$18 USD! Also note the weight. Some weigh 1 pound while others are 2+ pounds. Putting the metal side against the ER might help with heat dissipation.

I would agree. I have one connected to my ER but it also clocks a Mutec +3 USB. Earlier in its life when I was using Rednet(AOIP) it also clocked my D16. While it makes a very nice improvement in SQ refinement in those situations I would not recommend it just for the ER. I would spend that money elsewhere first.
