But in fact even if it explain the technical aspects it's not really simple to make a correlation between technical aspect and change of sound quality, on RT and not RT, it is clear that non RT has more flexibility and sound is more fluid on the other side RT paranoïd rythm give a more 3D image, which is logical, when I choose RT on Host and non RT on Target it is like have a very precise conductor and a flexible execution, it can be seem as logic... But for other kernel attribute it's less intuitive. Auke
I haven't heard all kernels yet. I made a selection of your suggestions. I like: Target: 6.7.6-GentooPlayer-ULTRA-EUP100-TEST+ Host: 6.7.6-GentooPlayer-RT-ULTRA-EUP100-NOR-TEST+ Didn't like 6.7.6 RT eup nor on Host and 6.7.6 non RT eup on Target, All sound is beautiful, but somehow no emotional connection with the music. Somebody tried the 6.1.77 kernels? Link to comment

Having been on this thread for a while, I've come to realize that some of the settings I use are too bright for Auke but just right for PML. My DAC is a NewOnTech DAC 07, Amplifier is Luxman 509X and speakers are Buchardt S400 (heavily modified of course because I'm a tweaker like most on this thread). So overall my system would definitely be considered 'warm' by most standards and benefit from some more lively settings and kernels..... Auke 1 Link to comment
PML
I agree that the EUP100 is harder but the CLTO version is the first I've heard that isn't and is truly natural. Then it rightly depends on the whole setup. Link to comment

Sorry I had issue of translator On my side it's R2R (even if Holo mesure well) and hot class A, so not at all sigma delta and purifi, so I have an hot system too, do not take much attention on my point of view (of ear) I prefer eup nor for a long time and 100 is always very little harsh on my side, perhaps it's the upsampling *2 of Audirvana Qobuz Studio -> Audirvana Studio - HAF Filter xtalk (from homeaudiofidelity.com with Waves VST3 ir-l-convolution-reverb) -UPnP> UPmpdcli/Mpd sur RPI5 Gentoo Player v8.60 as host Diretta (kernel 6.8.1 RT CLTO EUP NOR, Shanti Alim, tweak kernel) -> Holo Red Diretta Target (kernel 6.8.1 non RT EUP) -Silver I2S> Holo Spring 2 kte -Silver XLR> BC Accoustique 362 D -> Quellis 1 Optima. Steviewunda
I would like to try CLTO kernels, but the 'more info' link on the 'UP/DW kernel* New' tab says: 'To download and install CLTO kernels (kernels compiled with clang/lto full) you must have the extra option for this kernels enabled' Which option is this, and where do I find it? steve0
This is a stupid question... but is there any way I can change the default sound from my Mac to Gentoo? I don't have a Gentoo option in my sound settings. I have Gentoo loaded on an RPI3 on my network, but I only have the default MacBook speakers that show up on my audio devices. I have audirvana, and it works fine via upnp Link to comment
