Album Player / AP2Renderer

Just trying it for the first time via GentooPlayer. I like the sound better than MPD. I’m using Minimserver, BubbleUpnp on x86 PC (single PC).

But I’m getting pops between tracks on DSD (DSF) albums (not PCM albums). It’s the same for gapless and non-gapless albums. I don’t have this issue with MPD.

I would like to play with settings to see if there’s anything I can do to fix it. But can’t find them.

How do see change the player’s settings? Any suggestions?

For AP2Renderer point your browser to IPAddress:7779

For APlayer it's IPAddress:7778

If you go back to p. 184 in this thread you'll see some settings bodiebill posted that got rid of dropouts with AP2Renderer for me.

Thank you so much Zack! 🙏

.. how did I not search the thread.. 🤦🏻

I look forward trying it.
maybe the port addresses could be added to the web interface for easy access for other noobs.

My bad - missed that! Thanks for pointing it out Filippo!

Appreciate all the tips. Currently, I’m only able play DSD when converted to PCM. Native DSD option is greyed out. And when playing DSD files using DoP,  I only get a high pitched noise (not white noise). No music. For giggles I tried upsampling PCM to DSD, but the file would not play.

I can switch to MPD for DSD files if desired, but would like to get AP2Renderer to work play DSD natively - if possible (read that AP did play native?).

Sorry to veer off topic. I can take further questions up on an AP thread.

But thanks again Filippo - tremendous work. Despite having these little kinks trying AP2renderer,  I’m getting some glorious sound. Thank you 🙏

@antonellocaroli I am trying to run GP on a USB / SD drive on a Thinkpad X240 but am running into problems. @Dandou is helping me with Diretta and GP setup but suggested I contact you for assistance here.

I managed to run GP successfully last week on a 32Gb SanDisk drive (a slow low class, spare from an old phone) with the X240. I was able to use GP to get the signature of my hardware for the trial key you subsequently provided.

However I was unable to get GP to boot again from that 32GB SanDisk. It produced these error screens repeatedly.

I concluded that SanDisk must have been faulty so I today bought a new SD card. A 128Gb Samsung Pro Plus. Much faster to flash GP with Balena Etcher.

Then booting X240 using GP on the Samsung SD this evening (NZ time) it proceeded much further than the last attempts with the SanDisk, to the point it appeared on my network with an allocated Ip address. However it would not respond to ip_address:5000 being typed into a browser of another computer. Note also there were multiple error messages in the boot log. I have tried this 5 times now including restarting the router and switch first. No success, same errors each time. See below screenshots.

Appreciate any direction you can provide.

Cheers

Jake

@antonellocaroli I was able to update to 8.20 on my gp embedded extrm server easily but rpi4 (endpoint) is not updating. Update process froze at one point for more than a hour. I decided to flash the micro sd card via balena (mac & win 10). No ip address is showing in devices connected to the router despite using fing app. I've tried flashing multiple times. Same problem.

DDC: Singer SU6, Metrum Ambre

DAC: Metrum Pavane, Weiss 205

Amp/Preamp: AGD Audions, Herron VTSP 360 Ref

Speakers: Kairos

there seems to be a problem with the filesystem,

try rewriting the image.

are there other GP installations present on the PC?

Thanks Antonello. As far as I am aware the only OS on the PC is Windows 10 installed on its SSD, I've not tried to install GP on its SSD if that's what you're asking. I have only tried to run GP on this laptop by booting from the flashed SD card in a USB reader. Used this image for flashing both the SanDisk and the Samsung SD cards - GentooPlayer-UEFI-OpenRc-8.10.img which I downloaded a few weeks ago.

Will try reflashing the SD as you suggest.

After another fail from update version from 8.10 which abort failing.

I flashed another sd and GP update, and then installed Diretta without issue.

As usual, there is an audible Rise of sound quality, very perceptible.
