Yeah, but does YOUR cd store have a sense of humor?

Recommended Posts

I just made my first cd purchase from CDBaby.com this afternoon. I received the following email confirmation on my order:

"Blake- Thanks for your order with CD Baby!

(1) Kat Edmonson: Take To The Sky

Your CD has been gently taken from our CD Baby shelves with sterilized contamination-free gloves and placed onto a satin pillow.

A team of 50 employees inspected your CD and polished it to make sure it was in the best possible condition before mailing. Our world-renowned packing specialist lit a local artisan candle and a hush fell over the crowd as he put your CD into the finest gold-lined box that money can buy.

We all had a wonderful celebration afterwards and the whole party marched down the street to the post office where the entire town of Portland waved "Bon Voyage!" to your package, on its way to you, in our private CD Baby jet on this day, March 8, 2013.

We hope you had a wonderful time shopping at CD Baby. In commemoration, we have placed your picture on our wall as "Customer of the Year." We're all exhausted but can't wait for you to come back to CDBABY.COM!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Sigh...

We miss you already. We'll be right here at Discover and Buy Indie Music | MP3s, CDs, and Vinyl | CD Baby Music Store, patiently awaiting your return."

Now that's what I call customer service!

I'm awaiting a couple from them myself - sampler from Will Ackerman's new studio project, Imaginary Road, and an artist from that sampler, Masako.

Yes, I got that amusing welcome, too. :-)

BTW, that Burial recording looked/sounded very interesting. Reminded me just very slightly of Morphine from way back.

One never knows, do one? - Fats Waller

The fairest thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the fundamental emotion which stands at the cradle of true art and true science. - Einstein

I am a fan of Morphine. Very original sound, and an unfortunate premature demise.

I think my record store does, and I get to enjoy it in person...

The Electric Fetus, an odd name for a record store, right? I asked the owner once how they chose that name, he said, "well, it seemed like a good idea in the 60s..."

You can imagine why.

No electron left behind.

That's funny!

On another note, Morphine's name always seem so appropiate. The music was, so....morphine-esque

Left Legged Pineapple

Unfortunately now the B&M store (which was more general) is shut... But carrying on the good work online specialising in rare and collectible.

...in my opinion / experience...

While I agree "Everything may matter" working out what actually affects the sound is a trickier thing.

And I agree "Trust your ears" but equally don't allow them to fool you - trust them with a bit of skepticism.

keep your mind open... But mind your brain doesn't fall out.
