Cheers! http://sacd-ripper.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/readmeSACD Extract (available on Windows, Linux, OS X) allows you to extractindividual tracks from ISO files when operated in file mode or from the SACD Ripper when operated in Daemon mode. ted_b
Yes, I know Mr Wicked says Linux, but his compiled downloadable versions do not include it, and I'm not the guy to walk you through that make and compile process. But I can't imagine others haven't been successful. Give your post time for others to read. "We're all bozos on this bus"....F.T. Loxodromic
Just use what sounds best to you ... I use the "Direct (Double-Precision, 30kHz LF)" setting to get rid of the rising DSD noise above 30kHz, but ... YMMV. You might also try out some of the included "Installable FIR" filters. (Note that "Double-Precision" should be more accurate in processing, but uses a bit more cpu power too). Thanks .. I tried that and it works. Link to comment

Loxodromic
I have a few DSD files [i got them as free sample downloads] and I am converting them to WAV with foobar200 and the SACD plugin. I have a few questions .. a) Is foobar2000 with the plugin as good as / better than / worse than Audiogate ? b) Does anyone want detailed instructions on how to use foobar for SACD conversion ? Guest Rob F
Thanks again Ted for the help, I have been ripping my SACD's a few per day. It gets tedious, but I am sure the result will be worth it in the end! Regards, Rob. Link to comment

harryb
No, it cannot. Ted: My PS3 guy just sent me the following answer when i asked him if it could be downgraded. Is this accurate?: "Hi Harry, The downgrade cost $100 , its more complicated than just flashing the firmware, two nand chips have to be removed from the motherboard and read in a nand programmer then modified and reflashed with the modified nand then resoldered to the motherboard and go through many steps software procedure, its a very sensitive and time consuming process." Unless somebody has tried this and it DIDN'T work, I may give it a go. Harry Link to comment
Northeastohiopcs
Yes. I am 100% certain that a downgrade cecha-e will run sacd_ripper. Every file in the flash is byte to byte identical after downgrading compared to if it were originally 3.55. You specialist is ripping you off. It is 75 with a thorough cleaning. Either through me or check ebay. You do not have to remove the nands. That is a ridiculous claim. The only time a downgraded console would not run sacd_ripper would be if an inexperience or ignorance technician used the incorrect logic board to repair the system. I have tested ntsc-u and pal cecha01 , cechb01 ceche01 all working great. A few members can testify to that . If anyone is looking for a system please give me a pm. I would be glad to be of service. Unless somebody has tried this and it DIDN'T work, I may give it a go. Harry Everybody! Please read this: you CANNOT just flash the firmware in the field and expect a greater-than-3.55 SACD-capable PS3 to work as an SACD ripper. I stand by that comment, and have since day one! HarryB, you did not clarify in your question that you would be doing a hardware repair (aka downgrade). That is NOT simply "can I flash back to 3.55" (which is read by most people as "can i do a firmware flash and hope all is fine"). I stand by my "no you cannot". As Jason (northeastohiopcs) has clearly stated that it requires some work and a correct logic board, etc. For $75-100 you can INDEED have a hardware mod/flash done to your system. I have been saying that for some time, and introduced this forum to Jason and his work. Sorry to get on the soapbox but this is a HUGE miscommunication by many folks, and they read it as "oh, just do a firmware flash" by some folks and go out and spend $400 on a 4.xx PS3 and then find it is either a boat anchor or they must invest more. Net/net, yes there is a solution! And especially for those of you who already own an SACD-capable PS3 over 3.55 the $75 is likely a great investment, but it requires a technician like Jason. Just a software "update" (like many floating around the net) will not do it. "We're all bozos on this bus"....F.T. Northeastohiopcs
You are right on point that a member without extensive electronics experience should NOT attempt a hardware downgrade. I have repaired PlayStation's for longer than I care to admit . MY first attempt was a brick. The reason I am so adamite about it being possible to have a professional downgrade a console is simple. Many member spend up to 1200 on a factory sealed system to ensure they receive a low firmware. These systems are unreliable as the thermal paste has long since dried out and corrosion has began. Under the stress of sacd_ripper they fail quickly. There is no reason to spend over 300 on the complete setup either way they go. Also , I have to add. I have received systems from members that previously had reballs perform by "specialist" These system shown clear signs of heat gun damage. Meaning they were never reballed. Someone used a heat gun to very temporarily fix the board.Of course installing cfw voided the member supposed warranty. I do clearly understand it may be consider unprofessional to call out a competitor. However , if I lost all my business from sacd to protect the awesome people I have met here , I'll sleep good tonight. Link to comment
bmoura
I see that we are now up to 58 pages of comments and that there are obviously many users of the extract program I was not aware (and perhaps you aren't either) that it is possible to "donate" money to the team that developed and maintains this software. The link for making a Paypal donation is here so if you are a user and if you want to thank the team for their considerable effort then you can figure out what to do! https://code.google.com/p/sacd-ripper/ Good find. I'll check out the Paypal donation link for Mr. Wicked. What about a Paypal donation link for Ted and his guide? Has that been established yet? Link to comment

ted_b
Hi Ted, Please send me the PS3 guide too. Thanks in advance. By the way , which DSD DAC do You use-recommend . tetak PM sent. Welcome to CA. Too many DSD-capable DACs right now that I haven't heard yet. At the under $3500 (US) mark I like Auralic Vega, Chord QuteHD (with good 3rd party linear ps) and Exasound E20. Under $1600 I still love the Mytek Stereo 192 DSD DAC and the Sonore/eXD DAC. I am anxious to ehar the Lampizaotr DSD-only (coming to me soon) and still want to ehar the MSB Analog and the SOtM sdp-1000 (especially given its great reputation form being a legitimately great analog preamp included...I don't normally like included preamps in DACs). ridom
Hello again Ted I was searching the thread and did not found a clear answer to my problem, so I am posing the question anyway. THe PS3 I bought (CECHE01) has a ROGERO FW 3.55 (downgrade). I do not know if this "FW downgrade" allows or not for the patch to work. Since I am planning to return it if it does not work, I prefer not to give it a try. Do you have an answer for this?, Thanks, Ricardo Link to comment
