Best way to get audio out of LG CX TV to DAC?

Hello everyone, 

I just got an LG TV, which has optical output. I would like to get the sound from TV to my DAC (Schiit Yggy), which also has optical input. 

 

My question is what is the best way to get the sound signal from TV to feed the DAC? If there is no better and more efficient way than using optical cable. Which optical cable should I go for?

After I had connected my TV with a DAC via optical for the first time, I spent quite lots of time in front of the TV just enjoying the sound. Frankly I used a cheapo optical with plans of replacing it with something better and I never did.

It depends how you supply the TV signal to the TV of cause. Still I think you’re good with optical

If the TV gets its signal from a set-top box, then you could take the digital out from the box to the DAC.

If you have an AVR you can use HDMI.  This will bypass your Yggy

 

Optical is most likely better.

 I do this via Coax SPDIF into my DIY DAC, and it sounds  better than direct Toslink from the TV, or via HDMI from the STB then back via Toslink from the TV. I also obtained a small but worthwhile improvement in SQ by connecting the "earth"/ 0 volts side of the SMPS powered STB to Mains Earth via a 10 ohm resistor .A direct connection as suggested by John Swenson didn't sound quite as good due to what appears to be a minor earth loop.
