If you have never seen her live (ECS), it is an experience one will never forget. I know I am going to make eyes roll on this one, Diana Krall. I never liked her LP's until I saw her live and she was such a jazz geek (it was so funny to her her say, 'Sorry just geeking out here' and such an amazing pianist, I got her then. When I am home and not at work, I will pull out some more names that I really like (I can't think of them right now :D) Audiophile Neuroscience and AudioDoctor 1 1 Current: Daphile on an AMD A10-9500 with 16 GB RAM DAC - TEAC UD-501 DAC Pre-amp - Rotel RC-1590 Amplification - Benchmark AHB2 amplifier Speakers - Revel M126Be with 2 REL 7/ti subwoofers Cables - Tara Labs RSC Reference and Blue Jean Cable Balanced Interconnects Link to comment
Popular Post botrytis
OOH, one I thought of was, Melody Gardot. Her Live in Europe LP is really stunning and her voice, just oozes sex appeal. Since she mostly writes her own music, she kind of has her own little corner. I have seen her in small and larger venues about 10 times over the years. The first time was before she was famous at the late great Zanzibar Blue in Philly, back when Russell Malone and Ben Wolfe we’re in her band. It usually takes a couple of songs before she opens up and gets in a groove. She always plays killer piano. I can tell you from speaking with some of her regular band mates over the years that they all have great respect for her as a pianist. Don’t tell other audiophiles though as I don’t want my membership card pulled. botrytis, BobSherman and AudioDoctor 1 2 Link to comment

In the early days I always found her a little bland and a bit too "audiophile" standard. I think she evolved and developed a slightly more funky individual style which I like and respect. The sexy look was probably marketed well also. As they like to say on TV talent shows she "discovered what kind of artist she is". I always assumed that that was due to Elvis Costello's quirky influence but I could be wrong. Great looks, great voice, fabulous pianist. AudioDoctor 1 Sound Minds Mind Sound Link to comment

It shows especially in his later LP's. I can already preorder a hi res download on Qobuz! I wish Morgan James would make her latest album available on Qobuz as well. Right now it is an MP3 download from Amazon, or wait for a CD which will be a long wait because the distribution of them is delayed due to the pandemic. kumakuma 1 No electron left behind. JoeWhip
I can tell you that is isn’t very talkative. You can see that in her shows and off stage as well. She stayed with a friend of my wife when she was appearing in DC many moons ago, which we didn’t find out about until many years later. Some good stories there I think, which I will have to save for my book. Link to comment

AudioDoctor
Just FYI, one song from Diana Kralls upcoming album is streaming on Qobuz right now in 24/44. It is an inventive arrangement of How Deep Is The Ocean. No electron left behind. Link to comment
