Official Qobuz Issues Thread

Recommended Posts

I just tried Qobuz Studio.

Sound quality seems to be fine, but I am missing two of my favourite albums:

Bob Dylan "Oh Mercy"

Ry Cooder Film Music "Paris, Texas"

Here in the UK, no problem finding the Dylan album. Strangely, the Ry Cooder seems to be missing at the moment - and yet dozens of other Ry Cooder albums ARE available.

Stangely, I did not find both albums on Qobuz Germany.

Both seem to be available on Tidal.

There are differences. In particular, the US is behind Europe. This is mainly about licensing issues.

What about differences between countries in Europe?

Do they provide a better service in UK than in Germany for example?

Even within the EU there is still no common market for digital rights. Providers like Qobuz must deal with the right owners, usually the labels, for each country to get the license for streaming and additionally the local price conditions for reselling.

OK,

another question:

Do exist SQ differences between countries in Europe?

Nice, but why not in Germany?

You should ask this question the accountable local product managers from Columbia Records or Warner Bros.

I've done this for several HiRes albums that are available in the US, but not in Europe or Germany.  As well I asked about the reasons for price differences > 800 % for some HiRes box sets within Europe. Of course, I never got a feedback.

OK, but is the problem really Germany, when other streaming services in Germany apparently are offering these albums?

If you were using Qobuz and it's not working any more, don't pull your hair, the Qobuz plugin stopped working (either through the Media Server or with OHCredentials). Qobuz revoked the app_id, and also deleted the API documentation on Github. I guess that they don't want people to use their subscription as they like.

Can @David Craff please comment on this?

Thanks

Hi,

I did not read the complete thread, so maybe this has been addressed before and in this case I apologise.

I have Mac with Audirvana 3.5.33 and a free 3-month-Qobuz HiFi-trial.

All is working so far perfectly.

But I came across a strange thing:

On the Audirvana Qobuz integration there seem some albums appear twice. There seems to be no discernable difference between both. Both are Redbook quality, it is not that one is HighRes and the other not. The release date off both seems to be the same and both seem to be released by the same company.

So what is happening here?

Thanks

I dont know why it happens, but I see this in Roon and Qobuz as well. Nothing is really wrong, it's just that Qobuz has two copies of the album there for some reason.

Thanks,

but what are the differences between the copies and why is there no disclosure?

I don't know, there may not be any differences.

When there are no differences it makes no sense to offer two copies.

There are a lot of albums in their library, I am sure it happens from time to time and in due time will be fixed.

Is there any official comment from Qobuz about?

Does it matter?

I think yes, it is strange. The customer is forced to decide which one to select for playing and for what reasons.

IMO, it is annoying because sometimes there maybe differences and sometimes not.

Must be difficult to be forced to make such decisions...

It is similar if you would like to buy a new Porsche and the same model is offered twice on their HP for no obvious reasons.

Not really, if they're identical just pick one and go drive...

Agree,

if you know that they are identical, but if there are differences without disclosure.......

Is there any additional info when you view those albums in the Qobuz Desktop app? Maybe different details like release date that doesn't show in Audirvana? e.g. different mastering?

This is a good question.

I can download the desktop app and compare.

AFAIK, Qobuz via Audirvana delivers the same info about the albums as Qobuz desktop.

Anyway, I would be nice to get some disclosure from Qobuz about this issue.

@David Craff

Here is a quote from @damien78 from Audirvana:

"Audirvana uses the Qobuz API to access Qobuz services, that is the recommended way to ensure always up to date data, and thus immediate access to latest albums as soon as they are available on Qobuz."

My question: Does this mean that I get the same info about an album via Audirvana as via Qobuz Desktop app?

Thank you

Regarding these two albums nothing happened since my request from May, 2019.

WHY?

Hi David,

please can you comment on these issue.

I did not receive so far any feedback from Qobuz.

The request was one and a half year ago.

Thank you

Matt

Matthias, allow me to remind you that requests have a designated thread.

As for the length of time expired and actual request.  Bob Dylan recently shifted his catalog to corporate ownership.  A little interim research on your part might turn up events such as this that could lead to otherwise inexplicable licensing holes being filled.  By and large if a major artist's work is not present there is a reason.

It is a request for missing music from Qobuz. AFAIK, there is no dedicated thread for that.

At least the Dylan album is available on Spotify, so why not on Qobuz?
