plissken
I'm not touching a recommendation for a PCIe sound card for a hackintosh with a 10 foot pole... miguelito 1 Link to comment

wgscott
This place probably isn't the best resource for the kind of advice you want. Most folks here want to bypass their internal sound card by using a multi-$K stand-alone DAC, and most of the purpose-built computers users have aren't running OS X/macOS, but rather linux or windows. This is the only one I know of, and it is $350 https://www.amazon.com/SOtM-tX-USBexp-Audiophile-Quality-audio/dp/B072F34FDD Link to comment
mansr
The Sound Blaster brand is live and well. Asus also has some PCIe sound cards. I have no idea about the performance of either. There are probably others too, but those are what my usual vendor stocks. Link to comment
DavidL
I'd suggest your best-value-for-money solution could be a moderately priced external audio device such as those made by RME. http://www.rme-audio.de/en/ If you already have a good DAC you could use the RME as a digital-to-digital converter (e.g. USB-to-SPDIF). This is likely to give better SQ than a sound card. I built a Hackintosh, and adding any hardware could be a nightmare. You're better off using a USB device. plissken 1 I write about Macs, music, and more at Kirkville. peabreu
Anything Metric Halo is top notch and full support to all OS versions, probably one of the most stable solutions in the market, else look at Prism. If not look at pure hifi and there are a lot of options, I stick with Chord. All these are external solutions. If you really want internal solutions I would look no further than Lynx audio, very high quality and professional support: https://www.lynxstudio.com/products/e22/ https://www.lynxstudio.com/products/e44/ Link to comment
