I managed to improve the situation in Firefox by ripping out a few hundred lines of nonsense code and deferring opening of the sound device a bit. It still often ends up hogging the sound card (which means some javascript here is misbehaving as other sites do not have this problem), but I think the annoying freeze-up is gone. It's still hogging the sound device for no apparent reason. This is annoying because it means nothing else can play sounds. Link to comment

mansr
I found that changing the secret Firefox setting "dom.webaudio.enabled" to false makes it stop. Youtube still works. It is still my opinion that site scripts should stay away from the sound device until they actually intend to play something, not open it and play silence forever just in case. If not, select it and click the Tx button above the edit box. Or at least you used to. That button seems to be gone. Link to comment

Sometimes old posts are appearing again at the end of the list. See here for example: https://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/57582-mains-conditioner-for-smpss/page/3/#comments Even if you use the "sort by date" setting? Link to comment

I was looking for it at the top or even bottom, not between the initial question and the responses. I think defaulting to date is more logical though. Sorting by votes would make sense if people used the feature as intended. The trouble is that the intended use is rather restricted in that replies to an "answer" appear as a new, separate answer. The Stack Exchange sites have the right idea, grouping comments under the relevant answer. pkane2001 1 Link to comment
Popular Post mansr
Can we have a feature that prevents Alex/sandyk posting in threads or replying to people he's said he won't? Ralf11, opus101 and spin33 2 1 Link to comment

You still see replies directed at ignored users, and the general thread disruption still happens unless everybody ignores that person. @The Computer Audiophile, seriously, why do you keep giving Alex a pass with his nasty behaviour? You've banned others in a heartbeat for far less. Link to comment

Sometimes turning the device sideways is enough to bring out the missing bits. When not, at least Chrome has a "desktop mode" switch that lets you see the page as it would render in a full-size browser. I agree it would be better if there were some way to reach all the features also in the phone view. Going via a menu is of course acceptable. Some compromises have to be made on a small screen.
