Allan F
Does this mean that it's time for an update to the Freak Brothers famous mantra? Dope will get you through times of no records better than records will get you through times of no dope. "Relax, it's only hi-fi. kennyb123
It's been many years since I've been to that Amoeba, but I thought I recalled that they had significantly more space dedicated to CD sales. A quick scan of photos retrieved by Google seem to confirm that this is the case at some of their stores. So maybe this has more to do with CD sales going to pot? It's CD sales that have most declined. They were the new kid in town when I was in Berkeley, and they always kind of sucked compared to say Tower and Tower Classical and Rasputin's. Link to comment
new_media
I have more experience with the Hollywood store, TBH. The selection has always been great. I did live in the Bay Area in 1998-2001. Rasputin's (in Pleasant Hill) was my favorite store at the time. Link to comment
Forehaven
Loved that store! And, what a great idea to hopefully bring in more customers for music sales. Man, I miss living in Berkeley! petaluma
I usually go to the Haight St store when I am in SF. The last time I was in was late last summer. I think it was a Saturday and it seemed to be doing quite well. A lot of customers but not sure how many were buying merchandise. The vinyl section looked to occupy approx. 15% of the location give or take a few percentage points. The Haight is still a unique place to take a stroll thru. My wife and I moved to SF in 89 and it has softened a bit since then. "The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place". George Bernard Shaw. Link to comment
