That CPU has support for AVX2, so that is not an issue.

Am I right to assume that this is stock Windows 10 without any "optimizations"?

Please also check that you have latest Intel GPU drivers, you can download those from Intel's web site. I had similar issue on my NUC8 where some applications started crashing at startup after one OS update, such as Chrome browser. This got resolved by installing latest Intel graphics drivers.

Yes it’s just stock. Everything is fully updated to the latest versions. It allowed me to go into the settings and set things up right after the install. But then it crashed and now I can open it up. But when I go to click on the settings menu, or any other thing in HQplayer it freezes. And I need to force a shutdown of it to close it.

Sounds like potentially ASIO driver is freezing, in case you have selected such.

If it starts up, you can go to Help menu and wipe the settings through the menu option.

Alternatively you can go to folder "%LOCALAPPDATA%\HQPlayer" and delete settings.xml and HQPlayer will be back to default settings on next start.

It was setup to send the audio through an NAA on the network, not ASIO. I can’t click on anything in HQplayer. It freezes instantly as soon as any button in HQP is pressed.

That could be the reason as well...

there are days when I listen for hours and hours without any problem, if it were a problem of a deactivated process ...... it should always do it .... or not?
with roon (for example) i never had blocks ....
a question:
how do i clean the hqplayer log file?
today I saw that he has records from December 20, 2020 ...
there is no way to "download" the contents of the log file when the player is closed?

sistema:

Server HDPlex (i7-6700-WS2016) HQPlayer con Ramdisk + HQPDcontrol > Macmini (roon core+Qobuz) o HQPlayer Client + Qobuz > HDPlex NAA (celeron G1840T-WS2016) NAD con Ramdisk, o miniPC Fitlet con immagine di Miska > Denafrips Ares2 , SPLvolume2 > Monitor KH+sub

Generally yes. Another alternative is some network issue somewhere between the Qobuz server and HQPlayer.

You can just delete the log file and it gets recreated on next start.

Did you try to delete settings.xml like Miska suggested?

1. Since you are unable to stop HQPlayer, terminate HQPlayer through Task Manager or restart your computer

2. When HQPlayer is not running, delete settings.xml in C:\Users\<YourLoginName>\AppData\Local\HQPlayer
3. Start HQPlayer and tell us if the issue still exists

1. Stop HQPlayer

2. Rename the log file if you need it or delete it if you don't need it

3. Start HQPlayer

Can you send me one of such tracks (over email) for testing, as small as possible. For example through Google Drive share.

What software can I use besides dBPoweramp to encode ReplayGain?

Hello,

I run Roon & hqplayer desktop on a Mac Mini M1

i run NAA on an Antipodes DX

I upgraded hqplayer desktop 4.17 yesterday

everything worked fine

today, I upgraded Roon, and I now can’t play anymore: Hqplayer desktop shows ‘NAA output adaptateur not found ( I can access and manage the Antipodes without any problem), so I am sure NAA is running properly.

many idea?

Hi Jussi.. I just noticed in recent versions if Hqplayer OS there is a Limited/Apod Counter.. I thought that Apod will count if I was playing some old AAD cd material eg. Billy Holiday.. ok poly sinc guass long will do its thing on old recordings !! But some well recorded Digital material eg. Hotel California Hell Freezes Over XCRD version lights up the counter over 200 times.. Is there any SQ impact and any setting adjustments (Ecv2/DSD512) -6db !

For comparison I played Chesky 96 khz/24 bit Christie Bacon's Take this Journey ... the apod counter only 2-3 hits..

What are the lessons from these observations?

You should be certainly using an apodizing filter, such as the poly-sinc-gauss-long you are already using with such tracks.

This is better recording then. But OTOH, it is much less likely to get the counter increment with source rates >= 88.2k. It is much more likely to happen with 44.1k and 48k source rates.

For comparison again .. Stacey Kentsl's Breakfast on the Morning Train esp the first track The Ice Hotel which has audible HF ouput overlimit .. The Apod counter hit 1250 halfway thru this track???

This track Apid counter  finished at 2500plus

These are something called "modern recording" 😅

Roon update shouldn't have anything to do HQPlayer's ability to find NAA. However, please check that you don't have something like RoonBridge running on your Antipodes.

OK, good if it helps! I'm assuming you don't have "Short buffer" enabled. As that makes things much more prone to such drop-outs.

Apologies if this has been answered before, but is there an easy way to remotely switch outputs from HQPlayer Desktop.

I have HQP running on an M1 iMac and use a locally connected DAC which works well.  Sometimes I want to direct output to an NAA in a different part of the house.  I'd like to be able to do this without having to go to the iMac.  I know that VNCing into it would work but was wondering if there was a simpler way.

Thanks

short buffer is not enabled.
I don't know if others have (or have had) blocking problems on the client
and for this I ask Jussi ....
is it possible in one of the next releases of HQP to have a buffer of 500ms?
would this help in managing qobuz from the hqp client?
or are the 500ms completely useless?
thank you

Not at the moment, it is on my long term TODO list as part of "setting profiles", but it is quite complicated thing because it needs engine restart with a different configuration. And doing that from within the engine itself is not very straightforward matter (also means your control connection is gone).
