If you look around on this site you'll find several references (some by me) to the e-Onkyo versions as sounding excellent. You won't be sorry if you buy them.
"Ken, we're gonna have to take those screws out."
We both started laughing helplessly, in that punch-drunk kind of way you do when you've got to release the stress somehow. "Both" being me and Ken Burton, the master woodworker who not only designed and built the beautiful DAC chassis you'll see more of below, but also had spent an hour or more a couple of nights earlier inserting four tiny screws through tiny washers and 300 micro-inch copper ribbons into thin-walled brass RCA jacks, just t
It's video material about internal structure of audiophile converter music files. I plan to tell about digital signal processing theory in video in simple terms.
Just the top, no base, no circuits inside, no stories - yet.

In response to endless DSD arguments here at CA I promised to publish an open hardware design of 1-bit multi-level DAC without magical black boxes. No DAC chips. No camel-back DSD ultrasonic noise bumps either, even with 7th order modulators. Multi-level, but still 1-bit. How is that possible? Well, it's not a secret and I wanted to put it out in an open way. A DAC that is not trying to play dual-role between it's PCM-to-SDM and DSD.
Moving most of the DSP things to software, having only min
I had been using Audirvana in iTunes-integrated mode since it became available, but have now returned to using it in stand-alone mode because the integrated mode is incompatible with Dirac room-correction software.
In the time that I have been using Audirvana in integrated mode, the plug-in that I hacked together (with considerable help from Bob Stern) stopped working; it is incompatible with the latest iTunes and/or OS, and I haven't been able to fix it.
I found a much simpler work-arou

Hello there
It been a while since my last blog, thought I would tell you how I came about the system I am running today.
Back in November 2012 I went to a Headphone meet up in Cambridgeshire England. While there a raffle was held, and I decided to take part as it was for a good cause. If memory serves me right it was for a Cambridgeshire hard of hearing charity.
Any way, I was delighted when my ticket got pulled out first. I had a pick off a load off stuff, but I had tried this tub
I just got an application called EventScripts and its companion free iOS app. It has quite a bit of functionality. The two I instantly made use of are (1) the trigger function, so it can execute an Applescript or shell script in response to an event (eg: starting playback in iTunes), and (2) the iOS remote functionality, which gives you a simple interface to run any Applescript or shell script remotely, eg:

Advertising is everywhere and to truly grab potential customers attention, business have to be creative. At the end of 2013 I came across what, in my mind, has to be the best advertising I've seen for a digital music service. Obviously this is a highly subjective opinion, but I've decided to share this with you all the same.
First, a little background about the company. WiMP is a Norwegian music streaming service similar to Spotify and Rdio. It is available in Norway, Sweden, Denmark Germany
Does anyone have any first-hand experience w/ the NAD D-7050? Looks like a great way to add a quality DAC and amplification at a reasonable price, but would like to hear what others think, alternatives, etc.
