I was streaming music from my NAS as well as Spotify through my new Schiit Yggy. Very impressed with the sound until i fried by SB Touch. I am looking to replace but would prefer something that would improve on the digital signal of the Touch but also have Spotify capability. The recommendations i have seen are Tidal capable but not Spotify. Is anyone aware of something that can accomplish this? or should i just buy a SB Touch again. I was trying to see if something out there is measurably better than the Touch without paying a fortune. I guess i could cancel Spotify and just use Tidal but i am a bit annoyed with them since i cancelled the free Tidal trial and they kept charging me despite numerous attempts to communicate with them. They just do not respond.

I'm interested in upgrading the noisy SMPS on my SBT. I've been looking at a couple namely the following. Astron Sl-11R: Astron Linear Power Supply 13.8 Volts 11A SL-11R (http://www.astroncorp.com/linear.shtml) and really good pics at: http://store.stsi.com/sl-11r.html Welborne Labs Squeezebox Linear Power Supply: http://www.welbornelabs.com/squeeze.htm The Welborne is ready made and cost's only $212 + shipping. The Astron looks to be a good value at under $100, however it needs some mods to make it compatible with the SBT. First it needs a proper power plug. Second, the power supply needs modification to bring it down to 5amp, and 12volts. Currently it is a 7a, 11a power supply (although it measures 13.8 volts). Has anyone any experience with these or others?

I have a SBT that I'm using with a USB hard drive to store/serve music. It sucks. I'd like to set up a NAS to use as the server/storage. Can anyone who has a set up like this advise me on what model to buy, and the best (most foolproof) way to get it working? I've about had it with my little SBT. It sounds nice, but freezes too often, which makes my listening experience less a listening experience and more of an IT experience. On a separate but related note, does anyone know the ETA on the Auraliti file server? In case I have to ditch the Squeezebox altogether? Thanks in advance. PL

I am a new member of the CA community and have searched for any threads that may already be discussing this or a similar topic to no avail. I was initially planning on going with something like a Logitech Squeezebox Touch but then I started thinking about using a PC based solution for audio streaming. I am a Network Administrator by trade and also an avid PC gamer. Because of this my home network is very robust (HP and Enterasys GB managed switches all behind a SonicWall router/FW) and the pool of spare PC hardware I have sitting around is extensive (as a PC gamer I upgrade often). I currently have 5 active PCs as well as 2 ESXi Hosts running on the network and over 35TB of unused storage space. My managed network is running several different VLANs and regardless of which approach I end up taking the streamed audio (and eventually video) will be on a dedicated and prioritized virtual network. I have been an audio enthusiast for almost 30 years and my main system consists of the following (not state of the art but better than an old Realistic console): Aragon 8008ST and 8008x5 Anthem AVM 30 Kuzma Stabi turntable with a Kuzma Stogi tonearm and a Benz Micro Glider cartridge Michael Yee PFE-1 phono preamp OPPO BDP-95 Cambridge Audio Azur 640C 6 Wharfedale 9.6s with a Wharfedale 9.CM center speaker 2 custom made subs based on Peerless 10” drivers powered by an Acurus A250 So now that I’m finished with the long winded preface here’s my question: Knowing that I want to get as close as possible to bit perfect streaming of my downloaded HD and ripped CD files (mostly in FLAC format) and the plan for now is to use the DACs in my Anthem AVM 30 would I be better served getting a standalone streaming device like the Squeezebox Touch or using a USB to S/PDIF converter and a PC? Either way I’ll be building a virtual media server and storing the files on a GB networked server and sound quality is the most important aspect to me. I have also looked at USB DACs like the Audioquest Dragonfly, Halide Design DACs and HRT Music Streamer Pro but figured maybe I’d be better off using the slightly dated but good quality DACs (AKM AK4382 24-bit/192-kHz) in the Anthem AVM 30 with a converter. But, I may be way off base here so please let me know if I am. Another option is using the digital out on a good sound card but I figured the converter would be a more flexible and future proof option. Plus I’d like to start off for $400 or under if possible and then after I have a little more experience I can upgrade if necessary (the U-bug hits pretty regularly of late). If anyone knows of any threads already covering this please let me know but as I stated, I searched and didn’t find anything. I don’t want to annoy anyone by starting a duplicate thread. Thanks, Carl

Selling my Squeezebox Touch. It's in excellent condition and comes with OBM and remote. The Touch has been an excellent performer for me and I'm sure it'll continue to do so for you. I'm the original owner and I've had it for about 2 years. It's never given me a problem. I've installed Triode's Enhanced Digital Output (EDO) applet along with Sound Check's optimizations. If you don't want the EDO and Sound Check optimizations, you CAN factory reset the Squeezebox Touch. TRADE LIST I'm also looking for the following pieces of equipment. DAC (volume control and remote would be nice, but not essential) High End Music Player (like a Pioneer N-50, Auraliti, or similar unit) Preamp w/remote control I'm looking to trade for equipment that sells for less than $600 on the used market, but I can put in some cash depending your trade component. SALE Asking $425 shipped, no fees. HionHiFi 916-six0four-two2three2 This is a personal sale Free shipping to the contiguous United States. Canada and Hawaii, please email me for a s/h quote.

Each of these units works flawlessly and I have been the only owner who has taken care of them well. They are in mint condition. I have the remote for the Squeezebox Touch but not for the Boom - the Radio never came with a remote. $400 for all three units and I'm only interested in selling them together as a complete package. The Radio is white color while the Boom and the Touch are both black.
