I backed this project a few months ago -- I have been playing with it for about a week now. I used a Pi 2 as the base, as the wireless components in a Pi 3 were reported to introduce noise. I just finished modifying piCorePlayer with the GPIO tweaks discussed in the campaign. I now have a delightful "Steampunk" Squeezebox player, and am re-acquainting myself with vacuum tubes 50 years after my last tube "wireless" (a '50s vintage console AM radio).

Is there a way I can stream DVD audio files to a Squeezebox from my Mac laptop? I have seen the app DVD audio extractor from Computer Application Studio recommended in 2011. Is that still a good tool for extracting the audio files to AIFF using a Mac computer? I have a DVD video of the opera Carmen, a recent release with Elina Garanca. The performance is great, so I would like to listen to it on my stereo system, and as I don't have a TV (or separate video player), watch it on my laptop. After I have watched it once, I would like to have the audio part ripped to an AIFF file which I can add to my USB external music hard drive so that I can listen to the music (and not have to watch it again). I have had success in ripping my CDs to AIFF files (using RIP by Stephen Booth) which stream from my Mac laptop over the LAN to a Squeezebox (a souped up version by Lampizator) which is connected to a Lampizator DAC. It works well and sounds excellent. The DVD part is over my head, so I would appreciate help from some of you who seem "hard core". It seems like some of the current musical performances are not available on CD. There are two other performances on DVD video that I would like to buy if you can tell me how to hear them on my stereo system.

As suggested by this thread the first Apple TV has hardware capabilities to output 24 bit/96khz via SPDIF and likely higher via USB. In case anyone is interested, this week I set up my Apple TV (silver) to stream high resolution files hosted by a Logitech Media Server running on another computer. I used Squeezelite which is an excellent Squeezebox emulator with linux, mac and windows versions. I used the one precompiled for i386 and it is running on ubuntu. Some of the advantages of Squeezelite with ATV1: 1. High resolution as mentioned 2. Gapless play 3. Attach to network via Ethernet or Wifi (haven't tried wifi yet) 4. Multiple outputs (RCA or HDMI if you don't have a dac - USB or SPDIF if you do) 5. Inexpensive transport (approx. $100 for ATV and squeezelite is free) 6. Headless...control via tablet app or computer It sounds good. I'm using it with a DSPeaker Anti Mode but it's hard for me to compare with anything yet as I had formerly hooked up the DSPeaker via USB and it is not yet high resolution capable via USB. I've played several high resolution ALAC files and even some HDCD Rips (interestingly enough the DAC Reports these as 20bit 44.1khz even though they were saved as 24 bit in Cuetools). No pops or stutters....just locks on and plays!

Hi all, Brand new member here but I have been a "budget audiophile" for 20+ years. Starting in 2004 I began ripping my CD's to FLAC and since 2005 I have been wirelessly streaming music to my Cambridge integrated amp/speakers and separate headphone setup. My platform up until two weeks ago has been a pair of Squeezebox Classics and Logitech Media Server running on a Windows 7 computer. Two weeks ago one of my Squeezebox players died. I considered getting another one from the used market but decided that maybe it was time to move on. So, I am into the trial period of JRiver (which I like so far). I also picked up a WDTV Play on sale just to try it out and it works OK when feeding a signal through optical to my DAC and headphone amp. My other Squeezebox is still connected to the Cambridge amp. I am using BubbleUpnp to control things and it works fine with the WDTV but not so well with the remaining Squeezebox. The setup works fine with Jriver's Gizmo Android app but there is apparently some BubbleUpnp conflict that I haven't been able to correct. I'd like to stay with BubbleUpnp as the controller because it has the ability to stream Spotify from my rooted Nexus tablet. So, I guess I'm looking for a budget friendly replacement for my remaining Squeezebox that could possibly stream gapless (the WDTV doesn't). Here are my questions that I'm hoping to get some feedback/input on: 1. Is there a way to correct the apparent incompatibility problem with BubbleUpnp and Squeezebox/LMS? If so that would allow me to keep what I have, at least for now. 2. If there isn't a fix, is there another UPnP android app that can get me access to Spotify that I'm not aware of? 3. What are some possible streaming boxes, other than WDTV that can handle FLAC (gapless a plus) and have optical out to a DAC. I'm willing to pay more than the $50 I did for the WDTV but I'd like to keep it under $300 if possible. I don't need any DAC capabilities, just an optical out. I'm not opposed to DIY if it's not too involved. I know my budget is pretty tight but I thought I'd pose the question anyway. Thanks in advance for the help!

Good day, all. I've had a MW Transporter for a number of months now, but am just now really trying to get it "just right". One of my beefs with this thing is that if the server (a MBP) goes to sleep, it wants to continuously look for it (I want to it just turn completely off). Even if I turn it off and then put the server to sleep, it still looks for it. Then, once I turn it back on, I have to manually reconnect to our library. Is there a way around this? Thanks for your time, Mick

Each of these units works flawlessly and I have been the only owner who has taken care of them well. They are in mint condition. I have the remote for the Squeezebox Touch but not for the Boom - the Radio never came with a remote. $400 for all three units and I'm only interested in selling them together as a complete package. The Radio is white color while the Boom and the Touch are both black.
