Popular Post The Computer Audiophile
Hi Guys, as usual, I'm doing some testing of audio software, hardware, etc... I decided to try my wife's stock 2020 MacBook Pro M1 with 12 channel 24/352.8 files, and 65,000 tap convolution filters. My 2017 MacBook Pro with a 3.1 GHz i7 can't handle this configuration and music. It does Atmos 48k perfectly with convolution, but not the 12 channel DXD stuff. The M1 MacBook Pro, works flawlessly. I didn't tweak it at all. Tons of software is installed, iCloud is synchronizing files, disk encryption is enabled, etc... I could do so much more to make it work better, but I didn't need to do anything to get this to work. I put a 6GB 12 channel DXD track on repeat and let it play for about 30 minutes. Not a single dropout. In case anyone is interested, here's what I'm using. feelingears
"...decided to try..."?!? How could you resist for so long?!? ha ha ha I am not in the computer audiophile world at all but I would've wanted to scratch that M1 itch right away. I got an M1 for work and immediately revisited my software/server/networking assumptions and settings, looking for improvement. lol Thanks for sharing your observations! I tested it with HQPlayer right when she got it, but for some reason I held off testing this stuff until now :~) Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment
