I'd vote for that to change, but fair enough. Do any of you have experience with the other online forums? diymobileaudio.com I would recommend DIYMA. DIYMA has been a long standing forum focused mainly on sound quality in cars. There are many discussions centered around system design, fabrication, build logs, and technical how-to discussions to name a few. I would also recommend you checking some of the car audio competition associations (SQ/SQL) to see if there are any events in your area. If you find some, go so you can listen to what sound quality in cars is really all about. Cars/Trucks that are properly set up and tuned will have the same qualities that you listen for in a home audio system, proper staging, width, depth, tonality, etc... We spend thousands on room treatments to enhance our listening. Why would be spend big bucks on high end equipment for a car? You can certainly upgrade your car stereo, I encourage you to do so, but "audiophile" I think not. @R1200CL: No, not perfect, sorry. Now if the car is not moving and ensconced in a weatherproofed garage you may be on to something. While you bring up valid points, there are many things that can be done to cars to abate the effects of these. Sound deadening, and mass loaded vinyl, are just a few examples. NOMBEDES
I wouldn't mind some class 3 armor upgrades! 2.3 in thick glass is the way to go, and kevlar is the best. Daniellason
I own a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, it's pretty quiet. My tire dealer advised me that tires are a huge cause of car noise. In addition, there is the noise of the surrounding environment. Link to comment
