Ralf11
the early Porsche turbos are said to have been like driving an On/Off switch - power oversteer out the wazoo here is a pic of his car: AudioDoctor 1 Link to comment
Musicophile
What I find most impressive about this (beyond the cars) is that there was a time between 1950 and 1990 when you obviously could actually live quite handsomely off classical music if you were at the top of your game. I wonder if in 2019 the Spotify revenues of any of today’s top conductors could even pay for a Hyundai. Musicophile
FYI, for context the salaries, at least in the US, still are enough to pay for more than a Prius: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/07/27/arts/music/orchestra-conductors-high-salaries.html Check out my blog at musicophilesblog.com - From Keith Jarrett to Johannes Brahms Link to comment
sphinxsix
OTOH, If you choose the right classical music business model.. Quote With his latest totals reported, Andre Rieu extends his record as the highest grossing classical artist in Billboard's Boxscore history. His total gross from all shows reported to Billboard Boxscore now stands at $550.1 million. Further, he continues to be the classical act with the highest attendance, with 5.97 million. Andre Rieu Surpasses $550 Million in Touring Grosses, Has Played to Nearly 6 Million Fans Well, these are grosses of course. The result (much more impressive than Prius isn't it): Up to that point he drove S65 AMG (also more impressive than Toyota I guess). IMO his Maastricht castle is ..also more impressive than Prius Link to comment
