Sonore opticalRendu

Seems like anyone would want to go with the best power supply possible?  Why would one want to compromise, the better the Renderer, the bigger difference a really good power supply makes.  This is the same with most things in audio: increase resolution, and small differences get bigger...

Uh, price and diminishing returns. How much better is a $2000 supply than the “low noise” one sold by SMG for under $200? A lot? A little? 10% 50% 200%?

If it is a relatively small amount, why do I want to pay 2X or 10X as much for something that may make a very small improvement in my end result.

Main listening (small home office):

Main setup: Surge protectors +>Isol-8 Mini sub Axis Power Strip/Protection>QuietPC Low Noise Server>Roon (Audiolense DRC)>Stack Audio Link II>Kii Control>Kii Three BXT (on their own electric circuit) >GIK Room Treatments.

Secondary Path: Server with Audiolense RC>RPi4 or analog>Cayin iDAC6 MKII (tube mode) (XLR)>Kii Three BXT

Bedroom: SBTouch to Cambridge Soundworks Desktop Setup.
Living Room/Kitchen: Ropieee (RPi3b+ with touchscreen) + Schiit Modi3E to a pair of Morel Hogtalare.

Perhaps a look at this will sort some things out.

The optical module is a FMC and you will need two SFP modules in each end of a fibercables to connect it to a opticalRendu.

I am shore when everything is ready @vortecjr will sell kits with all you need to get it together.

As there are many different SFP modules to put in fmc, routers, switches it is not easy to say how one should connect everything as it depends on what hardware you choose so they work together.

yes, but for instance what doesn't that show?:

An example would be an existing setup that is NAS>conventional (non optic switch/router)>standard network renderer (or rendu)>DAC.

Another thing that isn't clear (at least to me) from the above chart: what does "existing optical ethernet" mean? Just a switch with an SFP module? Or something else.

I'm really not trying to make this complicated. What some of you don't seem to get is that lots of people have zero experience with optical in any form and don't understand what's involved.  You can't assume everyone understands what an FMC or an SFP are and what needs to be connected to what.

Jesus mentioned earlier that the Ultra cannot be 'upgraded' to an OpticalRendu.  The devices differ too much for this to be possible.  OpticalRendu will still need a PS.  The OpticalRendu is about $400 more than the UltraRendu.

The other option will be to use the ultra with the opticalModule. When the pricing comes out on the oM you can make a judgement if that's something you want to do.

When we in Norway export abroad, we can deduct the 25 % VAT that normally has to be paid when selling goods domestic.

If US companies has to pay 25% import duty, can’t this then be deducted when exporting abroad ? As the company will get a 25% refund.

(Unless you’re shipping direct from China to your non US customers).

VAT is a consumption / sales tax paid by every user in the chain. It isn’t paid on exports because the person abroad isn’t in the consumption chain of the country leveling the tax.  That’s why there’s the idea it doesn’t get leveled on exports. Just like other sales taxes when you sell abroad. The concept is that the sale is actually taking place abroad, and not in the jurisdiction of the country leveling the VAT. The person importing the item will have to pay the importing country’s similar VAT/sales taxes.

Tariffs are a tax specifically leveled against imports and importers to discourage imports. It makes no difference to the country leveling the tax that something is later exported, so why refund the tax?

Yes indeed and the reps from Sonore have very firmly denied and even ridicule that the clocks and PSU upstream of the renderer make ANY SQ difference, until now with their optical gear.

Don't think so. Can you find such quotes?

I guess you must have missed the now deleted thread: ”A novel way to massively improve the SQ of the microRendu / ultraRendu” there they made fun of people that are using better clocks and PSU on different digital gear.

A couple of examples can be found in this tread.

The only problem with your posts is that your understanding/description of what Jesus said is mistaken. He didn't claim what you claim he claimed. He was referring to other, specific claims made and did measurements that showed certain tweaks made no difference. Not the same as your  exaggerated description of his statements.
