vortecjr
I was finally able to reproduce the issue here last night and can effectively repeat it. I have a call into Andrew at SGC to discuss the issue. If your unit is stopping on pressing the upgrade button remove power, wait a while and connect power again. If the unit boots don't update again until further notice. My card is on order (but not yet arrived) but I see that uRendu Software Manager app is reporting that 2.8 is now the latest. Is it better to wait and update everything at once or can I get that bit done first? The 2.8 you are seeing just means a new version is available, but you can't update to it from 2.7 or earlier version. Rebooting usually works. Then JRiver cannot send audio to the ultraRendu. This interface is quite unstable for me. I was hoping 2.8 fixed this, well... I am not so sure now. Let's see when my card arrives. If DAC Diagnostics does not see your DAC then your DAC can't be streamed to. How does your Rendu hook up to the network? Direct to a router, direct to a switch, direct to a server, any wifi bridges/meshes, etc. SONORE computer audio | opticalRendu | ultraRendu | microRendu | Signature Rendu SE | endPoint | opticalModule DX | Power Supplies | Link to comment

After restarting the unit, confirming that it was online and that my DAC was visible in DAC Diagnostics, Rigelian once again indicates no albums present. It's as if the MPD database is only being stored in memory and not written to the micro SD card. If this is what is happening, then 2.8 is not a lot of use for MPD users. I looked into this and did not find anything out of the ordinary...yet. vortecjr
Some general information about units running Sonic Orbiter 2.8. We are going to change the update process so it looks at the Rendu's internal temp and checks if the unit is either playing music or beyond a certain temperature. If either case is met you will have to shut off playback and let the unit cool down before updating. The update process is CPU intensive and the update should not be interrupted. This should help with the reported issues with updates. When this specific update is available you have to following the rule of thumb on your own. After this specific update the software will prompt you accordingly from then on. I'll let you know when this specific update is available. Using Roon it would suddenly lose connection to OpticalRendu, but when checking DAC diagnostics in sonicorbiter my DAC had disappeared. I managed to make things a lot more stable by purchasing bluejeans Ethernet cables, which when you see them you can tell are very well made. Apparently a lot of ethernet cables are made in such a mass that often connection is not that good. However to put your mind at rest, since getting sonicorbiter 2.8 I have had perfect connection to my DAC every time. In 2.7 my DAC would be shown in DAC diagnostic but would have different readings randomly, and I’d have to restart the opticalrendu several times to get it to connect properly. But since version 2.8 my DAC has connected perfectly every single time. So if I was you definitely upgrade to version 2.8 Which DAC are you using? Popular Post vortecjr
Sonic Orbiter 2.8 has not been working well so I have asked Andrew to suspend sales and shipments of SonicOrbiter 2.8 until such time that we can correct this issue. The symptom for those of you with Sonic Orbiter 2.8 is that the unit shuts down during playback and the status LED turns off. This requires a power cycle to get it going again, but the unit will not boot until you remove power and wait a few minutes. Today we released an update to Sonic Orbiter 2.8 that should help improve the stability of the operating system. Please follow this update procedure to obtain the latest update. 1. Stop all audio playback at the server/controller. 2. Disconnect the USB device. 3. Wait a few minutes. 4. Go to Apps / Software Manager and press Update. 5. Wait for the update to precede and ignore any errors. 6. Wait for the Back to Main Link at the bottom of the update. 7. Pull the power cable and wait a few second and reconnect the power cable. Please contact both myself and Andrew about your purchase should you have any questions or comments at [email protected] and [email protected]. vortecjr
We have started shipping 2.8 cards again. Cards shipping today do not need the update procedure above. For regular updates stopping all audio playback at the server/controller is recommended. Then wait for the Back to Main Link at the bottom of the screen and reboot. This according the instructions from Andrew and Jesus. This was still the first card, not the updated version that came out very recently. Everything went fine, but look out when inserting the new card in the slot. Do this preciseley! One question remains: I am used to delete every app I don't need, so I did, but I was not able to delete the Roon app. Is there a reason for this? Some people are having trouble finding the hole:) I have one other report of not being able to delete the RoonReady app, but I have not been able to replicate it here. There is no reason to delete the unused apps output modes since they are not running when not the selected output mode. LMS, BubbleUPnP, and the SonoreUPnP Bridge are active if installed. All said if you update all the cards are the same. SONORE computer audio | opticalRendu | ultraRendu | microRendu | Signature Rendu SE | endPoint | opticalModule DX | Power Supplies | Link to comment

It seems to me, that sometimes, sonicorbiter.com times out, expecting the Rendu to re-boot faster than it does. If you refresh the page after the Rendu has had a chance to fully re-boot, it shows up. Perhaps @vortecjr can confirm my suspicion here. The time it takes to reboot varies so sometimes it times out. I usually just exit that page and go directly to sonicorbiter.com. barrows and jos 2 SONORE computer audio | opticalRendu | ultraRendu | microRendu | Signature Rendu SE | endPoint | opticalModule DX | Power Supplies | Link to comment

Powered down and swapped out the 2.7 card. Initially the UltraRendu appeared in ‘Find my Unit’ but there was no web page. After seemingly a longer wait than with OS 2.7 this appeared. I think all the preinstalled components/packages extend boot time. Ran update multiple times, to ensure all components and packages were at the latest versions. Removed preinstalled applications, leaving just Roon Ready & installed SonoreUPnP Bridge. Added configuration setting and rebooted.
