Valvefan
Hi All. I would like to have a device at my bedside that could receive music files up to 96/24 resolution via my home WiFi network. SPDIF or analog output would be ok. I would love to use a Squeezebox but they are no longer made. Suggestions? Thanks Link to comment

gmgraves
Plenty of used Squeezeboxes available on the Bay. As a very satisfied Squeezebox Touch owner, I can tell you that a used one is still a very viable option. For a few months after OS X Yosemite came out, the squeezebox server software stopped working, but I'm happy to report that Logitech has come out with a Yosemite compatible upgrade and it works perfectly. I stream Internet radio to my squeezebox Touch, I listen to my iTunes rips on it, and my high-resolution downloads - all of which are stored on my Mac. But one can plug-in USB 'thumb drives" as well as SD cards, making the tiny thing very versatile. The headphone amp even sounds decent (just don't try to power your Audeze or HiFiMan HE-560s with it! firedog
Not to mention that with the EDO plugin it plays DSD (with LMS 7.9) and 24/192 files also, and can be used as a USB source to a USB DAC. Considering the price and the perfectly reasonable sound quality, one of the great bargains ever in audio. Main listening (small home office): Main setup: Surge protector +>Isol-8 Mini sub Axis Power Strip/Isolation>QuietPC Low Noise Server>Roon (Audiolense DRC)>Stack Audio Link II>Kii Control>Kii Three (on their own electric circuit) >GIK Room Treatments. Secondary Path: Server with Audiolense RC>RPi4 or analog>Cayin iDAC6 MKII (tube mode) (XLR)>Kii Three BXT Bedroom: SBTouch to Cambridge Soundworks Desktop Setup. Living Room/Kitchen: Ropieee (RPi3b+ with touchscreen) + Schiit Modi3E to a pair of Morel Hogtalare. All absolute statements about audio are false Link to comment
