The "Official" Aurender Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

The N100H is my first step into the world of streaming but discovering how superior it is vs using a laptop has been quite the revelation! In fact, ripped CDs sound better than via my high-end transport using a CDPro2 laser.

My question:

Where to find instructions to use the N100H  "manually", i.e. away from a network, using only the front panel buttons to access & play files on the HDD?

This would be VERY useful when traveling to locations without a network or very difficult to connect to the network.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @tmhaudio, glad to hear you are enjoying using the Aurender in your system. The interface/controls from the hard buttons on the front panel alone are limited to pulling up saved playlists, and play/pause/next/previous commands. However, you can use a USB WiFi adapter like this to create your own little Aurender LAN on the go. You'll find instructions here: https://aurender.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/1500007493101

Note: this won't give you internet access for streaming, software updates, or remote support, but it will be a great solution for you to play locally stored or USB attached library content.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply, Ari - much appreciated.

If I understand correctly, the Aurender MUST be connected to a WiFi network - either via hard wired or a USB adapter.

Is this correct?

btw, I've noticed upgrading the fuse improves the sound quality - transparency, detail, air/space, soundstage. Properly isolating chassis provides additional sonic benefits, too.

Out of curiosity, what fuse and what isolation are you using that has brought about the improvement for you?

Any quality fuse using a silver fuse wire.

Xindak sells a 2A glass fuse using 4N silver fuse wire for $10 each that provides noticeable sound improvements as I noted previously.

Also, vibration isolation (as with any audio component) can bring improvements, too.

Ditto quality AC cords.

Isolation? So many to choose from - everyone has their favorites. I prefer/use this UK design:

Yes, that's correct. Again, you can use the hard buttons to start a playlist, or to resume playing a queue left over from your last listening session, but other than that you need the Conductor app to search, browse, and control playback.

@AriMargolis - thank you for your insightful comments as they were very helpful in my understanding of the N100H.

Just moved to a new home in countryside gated community and beginning to set-up main system with N100H.

Problem: Router/Modem is NOT in same room as system so direct ethernet connection not an option

Purchased WiFi USB adapter:

 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08KHV7H1S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Connected to N100H USB data port

Powered on N100H to home screen

Does not show in my "Settings/Connections" on Android or PC

Placed WiFiUSB Adapter next to my router - still not showing in available networks

Many networks show including my favorite "FreeVirus"

QUESTION: Do I need to do something to "activate" to get USB adapter to connect to my network?

Thanks for any help!

Any USB WiFi adapter using realtek RTL8192CU, RTL8812BU, RTL8812AU, and RTL8822BE chipsets are supported. Here are a few recommendations:

Plug it into an available USB port on your Aurender. Then, in your mobile device or tablet's settings menu, go to the WiFi settings and connect to the network that is named after your Aurender model. The password will be "aurender12345".

Note, this will not provide internet access...only control and connectivity with your iPad or Android. So, if you want access to streaming services and updates etc, Chris’s solution above is mo betta.

Let me know if you get stuck!

Thank you, Ari!

QUESTION: Any recommendation for the highest performing device from your list?

I purchased the "TP" USB adapter from Amazon and it has return privileges. thankfully!

***BTW, I remain very impressed with N100H (my first step in the streamer world). Based on earlier comments, the N200 would be the logical upgrade for a more neutral & source revealing transport/streamer - correct?

@AriMargolis

Thanks for the WiFi Adapter suggestions....

UPDATE:

Purchased, received & installed the first adapter on your list. Unfortunately it is not being recognized in my settings/networks available on my Android tablet.

I assume it should appear automatically without additional settings/adjustments?

As an aside, when the N100H is placed next to router and connected via ethernet, all's well.

At this point, unless there's a setting I'm missing, my last option is a WiFi extender with ethernet port.

All suggestions are most welcomed - thanks!

@AriMargolis - Thank you Ari for your offer of assistance. I've already processed the USB adapter for return w/Amazon, ordered a WiFi Extender w/ethernet port....and a case of booze if it doesn't work. I'll keep you updated.

Bit rate is shown to the left on your photo. 24 bit. 😉 Probably you found it already, as it's not in your post anymore. 👍🏻

Thanks....I noticed that after I posted and why I deleted that portion of the post.

The "24-bit" text was greyed out, not as brightly lit as the Sampling Rate text and buried at the bottom.

Ideally, it would be adjacent to the Sampling Rate - i.e. "192khz/24-bit" and clearly lit in brightness.

On my N100H, the display lettering has changed from white to pink.

Any reason Aurender has chosen this color scheme?

UPDATE:

After re-booting, the normal white text has returned.

I'll monitor for the return of the pink text.

Aesthetically, the pink was quite atrocious.
