    I said I was sad about Steve Jobs<br />

    I said I was sad for his family<br />

    That I admire him<br />

    I use an iMac,iPhone, iPad.<br />

    I use iTunes<br />

    <br />

    You simply copied the exact same Apple obituary from Apple.com over to this forum. There was really no need to do this, as every Apple user saw the Apple obituary on the relevant webpage: Apple.com. <br />

    <br />

    Cheers

    <br />

    so, now you're bitching because Chris chose to even post about the death of Steve Jobs here, saying in effect that an obituary only needed to be posted at Apple.com.<br />

    <br />

    And your rationale is that EVERY Apple user (already) saw it on the Apple.com site?<br />

    <br />

    <br />

    WTF? <br />

    Wap - As evidenced by the heartfelt comments of the other CA readers I think it was a good idea to post about Steve's passing here on CA. This is much more than a post providing information. Thoughtful readers sharing stories and comments about a man who has affected their lives in different ways is really nice. <br />

    There is a kind of persistent bigotry about Apple products from fans of Microsoft and Bill Gates, who they idolize, much in the same way that some feel about Steve Jobs. I suppose it's all relative to your point of view, but at least Jobs was not attempting to eliminate a significant portion of humanity under the guise of philanthropy. I think he managed to resist being pulled into the Malthusian views of the elite.<br />

    If anyone is shedding a tear over the death of Steve Jobs, it has to be Gates. A major source of ideas in consumer electronics is no longer with us.

    "attempting to eliminate a significant portion of humanity under the guise of philanthropy."<br />

    <br />

    This is just conspiracy-theory-laden drivel. I'm no fan of microsoft, but that is a grotesque mischaracterization of the Gates Foundation, and about as opposite from reality as it gets.

    See his equation on the overhead chart? He plainly states that he wants CO2 on one side of the equation to reach Zero. One the other side of that equation is Humanity. I would not call that a mischaracterization but a basic mathematical deduction.<br />

    Global warming, vaccines, birth control, and the guvmint behind terrorism - we've hit the crank magnetism quadrella!<br />

    <br />

    I don't want to derail this memorial thread, so I'll just say you've provided a point of view that you evidently consider quite serious and I consider quite entertaining, and we can agree to disagree from there.<br />

    <br />

    You wouldn't happen to have any Electron Kinetics gear, would you? (It was fine audiophile gear. The circumstances of the disappearance of the principal, John Iverson, were somewhat mysterious, and there were rumors of government involvement.)

    I've seen nothing so far that dispels the evidence presented by the actual parties involved, against themselves. All I've done is bring this very public information to your attention. <br />

    <br />

    The US has masses of true believers who think they still control government and not the other way around. People are certain that if anything this sinister were really afoot, then ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX and CNN would be pounding the podium 24/7 and heads would roll. We're convinced that somehow the good ole USA is immune from abuses of power; the kind we would consider common place in other nations and cultures. Speaking of immunity...<br />

    No connection with Iverson or his gear, but fortunate to have certain issues brought to my attention over the years. I also investigated accidents and hardware failures during my 32 year career before retirement. I learned to dispassionately follow the evidence where it leads. All you have to do is turn loose of any preconceived notions, as if you were an impartial observer from another world, and then connect the dots from the information in the Public Domain.

    Living in Conspiracy Theoryville is a cop-out, a cheap and easy do-nothing, brain-dead and ineffectual approach to dissent.

    Hi Hytek - This is not a conspiracy theory thread or website. There will be no more posts about such topics.<br />

    Jobs had a neuroendocrine tumor, which is actually a very survivable form of pancreatic cancer, assuming it is treated right away, by surgical removal. However, he chose "alternative" therapy which of course did not work, and by the time he had surgery, it had invaded other organs, notably the liver. He continued to refuse chemotherapy and radiation.<br />

    <br />

    <i>Fortune</i> reported this in 2008.<br />

    <br />

    I just read about it on <a href="http://gawker.com/5849543/harvard-cancer-expert-steve-jobs-probably-doomed-himself-with-alternative-medicine">gawker.com</a> (it popped up on Google news).<br />

    <br />

    The article concludes with this:<br />

    <br />

    "That, in the end, may prove the most compelling reason to forgive the brilliant CEO his many faults: Of all the people who suffered on the dark side of his headstrong, iconoclastic decisionmaking, it was Jobs himself who appears to have paid the biggest price."

    And Chris, your diligence in keeping us on track is admirable. Thank you!<br />

    The rarer pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours are still pretty bad. Sure they might not kill you in 12 months like adenocarcinoma, but you wouldn't wish any form of pancreatic cancer on anyone. It's one hell of a crap disease I assure you...The fact that he had a liver transplant in an attempt to cure secondary liver cancer was a pretty bold and brazen attempt at survival. And really quite controversial medical treatment in most parts of the world. I wouldn't wish a liver transplant on anyone either. Just sayin..:)

    Wow, so he is responsible, pretty much, for the computer, mp3 players, internet (yes someone said that) and this site. Well if responsible means it would have not been here at all if SJ had never existed or got into Apple etc.<br />

    <br />

    Never mind the slight elitism to owning lots of Apple, the chinese exploited to put the products, Ipods for sure, on the market. Paid peanuts so that they would have to save 4-5 months wages to buy one at UK prices. OK, SJ not directly responsible (best case scenario) but he is responsible.<br />

    <br />

    Sorry for the guy as with every person on the planet, I have empathy. However, please, he was a businessman. That's about it. Nice stuff, but just stuff.<br />

    <br />

    I know, I am a downer. I've been told already.

    No sense in letting someone with as foolish an opinion as that get me steamed up. Doesn't matter anyway. <br />

    Hytek -<br />

    <br />

    The next time you invite people to read "some comments about his [Jobs'] interest in music," it would be appreciated by those who apparently have less time on their hands than you if the two medium-length articles you cited were actually about Jobs' interest in music. In one of the two articles there are a couple of sentences about Jobs listening to some music on an iPad, negotiating deals related to iTunes, and asking Yo-Yo Ma to play at his funeral. The other article had no references to Jobs and music at all that I could find.

    They do. You just need to wear your Trilateral Commission mind-ray decoder ring while you read.

    Am I to assume you are referring to me?<br />

    <br />

    Foolish? That is subjective and so simply your opinion.<br />

    <br />

    Would be interested if you could explain that though. I am not a troll, I simply cannot fathom all the gushing about a businessman.<br />

    <br />

    All the biggest tragedies are forgotten in days in todays society.<br />

    <br />

    But SJ deserves so much praise for what?<br />

    <br />

    What if Alan Sugar died tomorrow? Would there be a similar reaction? I doubt it, apart from serious fans of The Apprentice.<br />
