bhobba
Ordered one. I know that Johns modified Hiface is superb - easily besting the best transports we can get a hold of out our way. Pianos through the transports were distorted and detail retrieval no where near as good. John says his SABER implementation removes the problems with the SABER chip such as some top ends coldness I and others have heard - at least he can't hear those issues. Will keep you guys updated on what I and others out our way find out. Thanks Bill Link to comment
wgscott
Does anyone know if this will work with the USB/Camera adaptor output from an iPad? If so, I think this would be the perfect DAC for a car stereo. (I think it won't if it requires the hiface driver). Link to comment
firedog
Seems like a great combination of features for the money. I'm just wondering how good his analogue output implementation is. Let us know when you hear it/compare it to another DAC. Main listening (small home office): Main setup: Surge protectors +>Isol-8 Mini sub Axis Power Strip/Protection>QuietPC Low Noise Server>Roon (Audiolense DRC)>Stack Audio Link II>Kii Control>Kii Three BXT (on their own electric circuit) >GIK Room Treatments. Secondary Path: Server with Audiolense RC>RPi4 or analog>Cayin iDAC6 MKII (tube mode) (XLR)>Kii Three BXT Bedroom: SBTouch to Cambridge Soundworks Desktop Setup. Living Room/Kitchen: Ropieee (RPi3b+ with touchscreen) + Schiit Modi3E to a pair of Morel Hogtalare. All absolute statements about audio are false Link to comment
blueixus
@wgscott, the new Fostex HP-P1 may fit the bill for a car option.... Trying to make sense of all the bits...MacMini/Amarra -> WavIO USB to I2S -> DDDAC 1794 NOS DAC -> Active XO ->Bass Amp Avondale NCC200s, Mid/Treble Amp Sugden Masterclass -> My Own Speakers Link to comment
bhobba
He uses a very interesting analogue output - namely none. The SABER has a voltage output and all John does is output that. Thanks Bill Link to comment
Audio_ELF
Interesting means inedible? Eloise (sorry couldn't resist... spot that film quote... a "well done" to the first correct reply!) Eloise --- ...in my opinion / experience... While I agree "Everything may matter" working out what actually affects the sound is a trickier thing. And I agree "Trust your ears" but equally don't allow them to fool you - trust them with a bit of skepticism. keep your mind open... But mind your brain doesn't fall out. Link to comment

wgscott
I think Julia Roberts regards pretty much everything as inedible. (Sorry. I Notted off in the middle of that painful flick) Link to comment
Audio_ELF
"I think Julia Roberts regards pretty much everything as inedible." Well done wgscott :-) Well almost right movie. Wrong character. "(Sorry. I [nodded] off in the middle of that painful flick)" Must be a male vs female; American vs English thing... Me thinks you've been googling if you didn't watch the movie... Now back to DACs... wgscott
... so I have learned to sleep with my eyes open. At least it wasn't as dreary as "Remains of the Day." Link to comment
