Which DAC Is Better? Pioneer CDJ 2000 NXS Or Topping D10s

Question

Hello,

I have a DJ setup and want to introduce a MODEL 1 Dj mixer which is fully analog. I want to know which DAC is going to give me the best sound quality. I don't know much about DAC chips so I thought I would pop on here to see if anyone can kindly help me decide.

The two choices are

1: Pioneer CDJ 2000 NXS built-in DAC

Specifications

Frequency Range

4 - 20000 Hz

D/A Converter

Wolfson DAC processor

Soundcard

24 bit/48 kHz

Signal-to-Noise Ratio

> 115 dB (JEITA)

Distortion

< 0.0018 % (JEITA)

Audio Output Level

2.0 Vrms (1 kHz, 0 dB)

2: TOPPING D10s

Specs:

  • Power Supply: DC 5V / 0.5A (USB Power Supply)
  • Input: USB
  • Digital Output: COAX, RCA, OPT
  • USB IN: 44.1 kHz - 384 kHz / 16Bit - 32Bit, DSD64-DSD256 (Native), DSD128 (DOP)
  • OPT/COAX OUT: 44.1 kHz - 192 kHz / 16Bit - 24Bit, DSD64 (DOP)
  • Decoding Specs (Line Out / USB In @ 96 kHz)
    • THD + N @1 kHz A-wt: <0.0002%
    • SNR @1 kHz A-wt: 120 dB
    • Dynamic Range @1 kHz A-wt: 120 dB
    • Frequency Response: 20 Hz - 20 kHz (±0.1 dB), 20 Hz - 40 kHz (±0.4 dB)
    • Output Level: 2Vrms @ 0 dBFS
    • Noise @ A-wt: <2.5uVrms
    • Channel Crosstalk @1 kHz: -135 dB
    • Channel Balance: <0.02dB
    • Output Impedance: 20 ohms

I know that the topping has higher sample rates etc but I'm wanting the DAC that is going to give me the best quality as most of my lossless files don't go above 48,000 I know sometimes higher numbers don't mean its better so I thought I would ask as I want to use the DAC that gives the best quality or Punch!!!

Cheers

I'd look at the D10 balanced for the punch, which (from specs) has a higher voltage output at 4.2 Vrms compared to the D10s (single ended). If you buy it from Amazon you may can test it with your setup and send it back if it isn't to your liking.
