TubeLover
As the title says. This is a fairly pricey SACD, but Keith Jarret's, The Koln Concert, is a favorite of mine, and I don't mind spending it if this version of the recording justifies it. Or is there possibly a Hi Def download out there that is superior? JC Link to comment
firedog
I have it; it's good. Don't know if there will be a superior one. A good 24/96 download already exists as well as this. I sort of doubt ECM will put out something better than these. You should get whatever format you think sounds best in your system. Main listening (small home office): Main setup: Surge protector +>Isol-8 Mini sub Axis Power Strip/Isolation>QuietPC Low Noise Server>Roon (Audiolense DRC)>Stack Audio Link II>Kii Control>Kii Three (on their own electric circuit) >GIK Room Treatments. Secondary Path: Server with Audiolense RC>RPi4 or analog>Cayin iDAC6 MKII (tube mode) (XLR)>Kii Three BXT Bedroom: SBTouch to Cambridge Soundworks Desktop Setup. Living Room/Kitchen: Ropieee (RPi3b+ with touchscreen) + Schiit Modi3E to a pair of Morel Hogtalare. All absolute statements about audio are false Link to comment
TubeLover
Well, the "good" 24/96 download is a third the price of the SACD! JC Link to comment
sphinxsix
The best sounding version (but I have a slight preference for DSD). Link to comment
AnotherSpin
Depends on your system, your mood, and what you ate for dinner. If the price of Japanese SACD doesn't embarrass you, buy it. Otherwise, any edition can bring excitement. Back in the seventies I had two LP sets of the Köln Concert. One German original, the other a licensed East German edition on Eterna. Both sets sounded good, each in its own way. Link to comment
