Article: Linn Next-generation Klimax DSM Review

I would like to be able to compare the Klimax DSM to my Pacific DAC as they are essentially two different roads to the same place, so to speak, with the major difference being the Linn is 100% digital and the Pacific keeps it's analog inputs in analog. Regarding price, the Linn is more expensive still than a Balanced Pacific with volume control. 

 

I would need to do it on a day when my ear isn't ringing so loud it can be heard on the Moon though...

They did last time I checked their website. So, a month ago, I think? I have been deciding how much I wanted to invest in potentially hearing one.

 

Plus, my ear has been ringing like crazy lately.

Linn announced this week that old style Klimax DS and DSMs can be upgraded to Organik DACs for £5,400. As in the case of upgrading the Hub, some of the benefits of Next Generation can be had for substatially less than full list price a new Klimax DSM.

I've heard both. For me, I would definitely choose the Klimax with the Organik DAC over the Rossini. The Rossini sounds very good and unimpeachable from an objective standpoint. But hearing music via the Organik DAC moved me to a much greater degree than did the Rossini. Tonal quality of the Organik DAC was, well, more organic.
