Objectivists here say it's just a marketing document of claims, with no proof. Uptone say John Swenson is working on measurements. Stay tuned. Since this is the objective forum, this thread should just go on an extended hiatus until John publishes his measurements. What else - objectively - is there to discuss? Ultimately, I hope all of us on AS are audiophiles. Which means we listen to music on audio gear, and seek to enhance the experience from time to time with upgrades/changes. The key difference is: Subjectivists evaluate gear based on perceived improvements in SQ by listening. Objectivists evaluate gear based on published measurements. WRT the ER, this seems simple. If you're a subjectivist, continue to consider the ER based on its sonic attributes. If you're an objectivist, don't buy it. Wait until the measurements are published, and decide if you find them compelling. If you do, consider buying. If not, don't. Just please stop this eternal bickering. Discussions of a manufactures theory is not bickering IMO. Discussion of theories and what different type of designs can have for SQ effect is of great interested to me and many other audiophiles, and not only to Objectivists. manueljenkin, wwc, Teresa and 1 other 4 Link to comment

Does anyone really think these guys are serious actors in the audio market? Of course many people believe that the UpTone guys are serious actors in the audio market. If they there not people would not buy stuff from them anymore. To imply that because they declined Amir’s invitation they must be crooks is silly IMHO. I’m all for UpTone to “show (any) evidence” that support their theories. Until they do you can: 1. Try one at home and if it’s not to your liking or standard send it back for full refund. 2. Use what you have now and wait and see if their measurements, and if they pass your standard you can try one at home. Teresa, Superdad and Audiophile Neuroscience 1 2 Link to comment

Surely you have this information as you are looking to have specific numerical values inserted so you can determine what the product sounds like. Surely it would help Uptone if you provide them that list, along with target values that you know to provide "bad" "acceptable" or "above average" so that they know what measurements to be concerned with. I would also like this information for sneakers...watches...food...women... Is there ANY other freaking hobby in the world where looking at numbers on a page is seen as an adequate substitute for actually USING (listening) to the device under test? I'll give you numbers but first you have to listen to the unit in question. Now I give you the numbers 11 and 0.004. Has the sound of the unit changed? No? You mean having numbers made no difference to the sound of the unit? Why do we need others to tell us our stereo sounds good? I can only speak for myself and it’s not that I need others to tell me what sounds is good. It’s that I want to know the mechanisms and which components and designs that really have an impact on SQ, and why they have it. To me audio is hobby there the listening is the most important, no doubt, however I also think that it is interesting to know which impact different hardware has, which gear that match well and how we hear and perceive sound. To identify which technical parameters that correlates with SQ can IMO help manufacturer to make better gear and hopefully consumers in their pursuit of building good sounding audio systems.
