Pulse & Fidelity - Software Defined Amplifiers

Recommended Posts

So far we have only Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pulsefidelity/ and Twitter page: https://twitter.com/PulseFidelity with some information.

What it is about is largely the hardware and software that was created for the Estelon Lynx speakers:

In fact you can see the amp proto covered here in the lowest picture:

DAC and amplifier in the same, so you don't have a separate D/A converter at all. Pretty unique thing I would say.

At a high level, a little like Rob Watts upcoming "DX power amp" that he's discussed? Of course in detail, probably very different.

I don't know, have to watch and see what he comes up with... A bit too vague from that.

It's already out in the wild, in the form of Hugo TT2...

Output power (balanced): (@1% THD) 1.15 W RMS 300Ω; 18W RMS 8Ω

But yeh, we'll have to wait for the big power still... last I heard is it's still years away.

So you're competing with him in another area now... DAC design, digital filtering philosophy and now amp design 😁

Well, I haven't seen any substantial about what goes on. So far their DACs have had traditional analog output stages, not something we've been doing. I don't know if that 18W comes from traditional amplifier or something else.

Or if it's more like Mola-Mola or similar where DAC and class-D amp are still separate.

We demoed the things already in 2017 at Munich... ;)

Edit: Looking at their web page, TT2 seems to be just like Mola-Mola and others, so separate DAC and class-D amp.
