gdpr
@Miska Your signature is now mentioning this new topic Pulse & Fidelity - Software Defined Amplifiers Can you provide us with some (pre-) information on this new concept/company? Dirk Link to comment
Miska
So far we have only Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pulsefidelity/ and Twitter page: https://twitter.com/PulseFidelity with some information. What it is about is largely the hardware and software that was created for the Estelon Lynx speakers: https://darko.audio/2017/05/estelon-lynx-future-fi-for-fat-wallets/https://parttimeaudiophile.com/2017/05/26/high-end-2017-estelon-introduces-the-lynx/ In fact you can see the amp proto covered here in the lowest picture: https://www.audiostream.com/content/estelon-lynx-0 gdpr 1 Signalyst - Developer of HQPlayer Pulse & Fidelity - Software Defined Amplifiers Link to comment
Miska
IOW, it is about something I'd call a "Power DAC". DAC and amplifier in the same, so you don't have a separate D/A converter at all. Pretty unique thing I would say. Signalyst - Developer of HQPlayer Pulse & Fidelity - Software Defined Amplifiers Link to comment

At a high level, a little like Rob Watts upcoming "DX power amp" that he's discussed? Of course in detail, probably very different. https://www.head-fi.org/threads/chord-electronics-dave.766517/page-491#post-13216184 https://www.head-fi.org/threads/hugo-m-scaler-by-chord-electronics-the-official-thread.885042/page-46#post-14427424 https://www.head-fi.org/threads/chord-electronics-qutest-dac-official-thread.869417/page-9#post-13968886 Link to comment

A bit too vague from that. Signalyst - Developer of HQPlayer Pulse & Fidelity - Software Defined Amplifiers Link to comment

It's already out in the wild, in the form of Hugo TT2... Output power (balanced): (@1% THD) 1.15 W RMS 300Ω; 18W RMS 8Ω But yeh, we'll have to wait for the big power still... last I heard is it's still years away. So you're competing with him in another area now... DAC design, digital filtering philosophy and now amp design 😁 Link to comment

So far their DACs have had traditional analog output stages, not something we've been doing. I don't know if that 18W comes from traditional amplifier or something else. Or if it's more like Mola-Mola or similar where DAC and class-D amp are still separate. We demoed the things already in 2017 at Munich... Edit: Looking at their web page, TT2 seems to be just like Mola-Mola and others, so separate DAC and class-D amp. asdf1000 1 Signalyst - Developer of HQPlayer Pulse & Fidelity - Software Defined Amplifiers Link to comment
