TIDAL: Best sounding ways to play?

Amarra doesn't do DSD in any shape or form I don't think (at least not in a competent way). But I'm puzzled about the Amarra for TIDAL comment above: I don't think TIDAL is streaming DSD, are they?

You're correct. TIDAL does NOT stream DSD. Merely HIFI. Amarra Symphony has chosen to play DSD tracks by converting to PCM 352.8. As a beta tester and customer, I have voiced my preference that Sonic Studio implement Native DSD playback but I am only a lowly beta tester and customer.

 

I haven't a clue as to what Vassago is complaining about. TIDAL needs to stream DSD first before knocking Amarra For TIDAL. As a matter of fact, the latest build (beta for me) has never sounded better in HIFI. Truely! That assessment may be subjective but I have enough experience to make that judgment.

My mind read is the member wants what he wants, notwithstanding what TIDAL offers. He may be missing how good A4T with iRC with HIFI truly is in my assessment.

Tidal responded that they are planning to add DSD support to a future version that supports local file playing.

All clear now that Tidal does not support DSD & my guess would be that they will not be likely to be doing so any time in the near future.

My mistake above. Tidal has NO DSD long range plans that I am aware of.

USB Audio Player Pro now supports Tidal and now is my 'best way to play'. This is using a Sony Z3c android phone. Tidal now sounds better than my CD rips.
