wgscott
Am using latest Xquatrz - for work, so is it painless ?? i.e don't need to do "nuthing" after upgrading ????? The only "pain" I experienced is in the pre-release, which I only saw yesterday, it refers you to a web page, but the link didn't work. The website is this: XQuartz Download and install X11. It installs into /opt/X11, and it will automatically make symbolic links to /usr/X11 and /usr/X11R6, so your previously-compiled X11 programs won't know or care. The guy who puts this together works for Apple, and supplied Apple with X11, so really very little changed, except we are back to where we were before 10.3, i.e., you have to install it yourself. mwheelerk
Downloading ML now to my iMac. I will play around with it there first before doing the Mac Mini. "A mind is like a parachute. It doesn't work if it is not open." Frank Zappa Link to comment

HiFiInsider
I did it this morning without issues. Took 30 min. total. Here's how to put in on a USB drive. The Computer Audiophile
Mountain Lion Audio Midi looks very similar. Notice the addition of AirPlay as a selectable output device. Very cool. Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment
Musicophile
Installation of ML was a piece of cake (had a backup but not needed). Happy to report that Audirvana 1.3.9.5. runs smoothly on Mountain Lion, even apparently more stable than on Lion. Haven't had a long time to compare yet, but sound's overall pretty nice. However, I'm even more underwhelmed than I expected above about the OS per se. The Icons in the dock seem to look a little bit more sexy, Safari now has no separate search window any more, and you have an Icloud and sharing (i.e. Facebook) button on several apps. And finally there's a notification icon in the menu bar. Great.... Check out my blog at musicophilesblog.com - From Keith Jarrett to Johannes Brahms Link to comment
HiFiInsider
Installing form USB stick allows for a "clean" install instead of an update install. BitPerfect seems to work fine. Haven't tried Amarra Hi-Fi yet. http://www.youtube.com/hifiguy528/videos Link to comment

Chris, does AirPlay support beyond 16/44.1? What's the max? I don't have my Mac with me so I can't tell. http://www.youtube.com/hifiguy528/videos Link to comment

The Computer Audiophile
AirPlay max is 44.1 kHz no matter the device. Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment
The Computer Audiophile
If you update or install Amarra and presumably other software you may get the error below. I took a screenshot of the spot in System Preferences that allows adjustment of the security settings to allow installation. Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment
harrypt
Can AirPlay be made to downsample my DSD content so that it can be streamed to my Airport? Link to comment
The Computer Audiophile
AirPlay can't change from DSD to PCM but if you application supports DSD to PCM conversion on the fly you can stream to the AirPort. Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment

Musicophile
Is ML sounding better, worst or the same as Lion? To me, at least subjectively, better, at least with my standard Audirvana+ beta in integer mode. Very relaxed, stable, focussed.
