Iam a long time Ultrarendu user. But seriously this scheme sucks. Basically you now have customers spamming every audio forum around!

I have been trying an ultrarendu (latest firmware) as NAA feeding an okto8pro (laest firmware) with 6 channels dsd128. I get "pops/thumps" when Roon switches between 44.1k and 48k material. I get silence if I connect directly from my windows 11 pc (with Roon/HQP) to dac with no pops/thumps. Is this a cofiguration issue, NAA issue or something with the ultrarendu itself? I have hqp sdm output 128x48 (also happens with 128x44.1), I even tried converting 44.1 to 48 in Roon before going to hqp. ASDM5-super/SincMGa - really like this combo.

Hi Miska, the best results I have had with your software is with a dsd dac with no filter/modulator. I have one from 7yrs ago (I think I started with HQP2/3) that was based on a AKM chip where you could turn off all processing and only have dsd conversion. Still the best sound I have got with hqp, much easier to hear differences between filters and a very easy/pleasing sound. Betters my previous ps audio and current topping, okto, e1da dacs with hqp. Do any ESS dacs have this functionality? Cant find any multichannel dacs that do?

Hi, can an RPi4 with NAA image be connected directly to a windows 11 pc running hqp5 via ethernet? Or do I need a ethernet switch in between? Will feed an okto8 pro via usb

Ok thanks, I will do as @bogi suggested and find the optimal efficiency. Yes .wav files. With full CUDA offload the gpu temp was going up quickly. is there a description somewhere of the vaious filter and modulator options?

Ok tried that. GPU goes to 1%, CPU about the same. Does pipeline matrix get offloaded like convolutuin?

@Miska I am using ASDM7EC-Super with poly-sinc-gauss-xla. 12 convolution filters in pipeline with output dsd128. I see cpu usage 25-30%. Ryzen 5950. If I enabe CUDA offload, CPU usage drops to 5% and GPU (4080) is high with spikes upto 100%. Should I leave CUDA offload on, or can I limit the CUDA offload?

Thanks Miska, that worked! Would never have figured out that solution myself. With 12 convolution filters in pipeline, no problem driving 6 channels on the okto to dsd128 - no modulator/filter limitation. Guess its time to try HQP 5!

Yeah, it is. Cant work out why its outputting pcm - can see it in Roon output map, on hqp and on the okto dac screen.

Hi all, I have a Windows 11 setup with Roon and HQP. Roon will send DSD128 to my Okto Pro 8, but HQP only sends PCM despite dsd being selected and even just DSD64. Any idea? Using the latest DIYINHK ASIO driver.

If you have a pure 2 channel setup in a lounge room its pretty hard to go to an atmos setup, let alone do it right. If you have a dedicated audio space its not that hard, or better yet a HT setup with all the speakers and an atmos avr - its allready done. Iam in the latter group and use nvidia shield pro / tidal atmos. I guess Darko's niche is threatened by the emergence of multichannel audio..... I find it far superior despite habing "lesser" speakers in my HT setup compared to stereo setup in another room. Once you hear it done well it really can be a revelation.

Hi guys. I have a NUC8I7HVK4 running windows/roon/hqp - ultrarendu - okto 8 - 6 channels amp / 3 way speakers. I have 12 filters in pipeline trying to get to dsd128. I get stuttering, cpu maxed out. Actually it even happens with pcm output. It seems my current setup can not handle 12 filters in pipeline? If I was to build a new pc what would you suggest - ryzen, i9? Should i get a graphics card for offload? Thanks, dont really know what to aim for

Iam out of cpu. Intel nuc 8i7 i78809. Windows -roon -hqp with 6 channels/filters in pipeline matrix feeding okto dac8 - active setup. I can not even do dsd64 without stuttering, cpu 80-100%. Target is dsd128, v2 modulator and ext2/3 or xtr filters. What all in one pc should i upgrade to?

So what do the different modulator options for PCM in HQP do? Does HQP convert to DSD and then back again?
