    • We recommended to use Variable_Low or Sync_Low which produces most natural soundings
  • Depends on your taste and DAC resolution, Audiophile may tried to fine tune with the other parameters at the GUI below. E.g. Preset Profile, The ASIO Buffer, Diretta Cycle, Target Latency, Phase.
  • When there is some setting is too extreme, such as ASIO buffer too low, some music may not play propertly and this can be fixed by increase some degree of setting.
  • Press "SAVE" after setting.

Update for Diretta Host Program and Firmware of AfterDark. Rosanna Diretta Network Bridge

8.Logic Behind the Diretta Host and Diretta Target

  • The Target and the Host are designed based on separate concepts.
  • With regard to the Diretta Target, processing is minimized and simplified to enable averaging. The Target is configured by means of simple processing, like hardware processing by FPGA.
  • The Diretta Host operates in synchronization with the Target to average processing by the Target. Packets are transmitted as often as possible at constant short intervals in order to average processing. The transmission is controlled by forecasting Target buffers. In this way, fluctuations in power consumption of a player as the Target is averaged as much as possible.

9. Advanced IPv6 access with Diretta for HQPlayer

  • Diretta is optimised with IPv6 network protocol, the Host is always synchronizes with Target and reduce infleunces with flow control and reduce complicated range requests process in UPnP.
  • The sound quality is much outstanding with high smoother resolution when Diretta is partnering with HQPlayer after High Performance filers and upsampling to DSD 512 playback

10. Rosanna Diretta Network Bridge is Plug and Play for HQPlayer.

  • Steps for activate the Diretta:
    • Choose the Backend: From NAA to ASIO
    • The Deivce for ASIO will be listed, choose AfterDark Diretta
    • The parameters will not change and settting can be saved
    • Press Save, then it is ready to go.

image.thumb.png.6dbd400f22cba7c8e2d8876217276f99.png

11. Connecting with Optical Fiber Isolator at Rosanna Diretta Network Bridge

  • Every Rosanna will comes with the small bridging lan cable in BLUE. The stock lan cable is useful for audiophile to try on the "Magic Effect" with optical lan isolator.
  • The BLUE cable is to connect both LAN port together, so that they can communicated. The SFP port will connect the SFP optical cable to network switch with SFP connection. This can provide phyical isolation from the noise swtich toward the Diretta Target. Music will be darker and details at the background will be increased.
  • For maximise performance, the stock lan cable could be upgrade with AfterDark. Constallation Ethernet Cable

12. 10M Reference Master Clock Input for Sound Optimisation

  • This clock sync interface is a optional addon for Rosanna Diretta Network Bridge
  • The Giesemann Clock Sync module is designed to accept 10M Master Clock from both sinewave or squarewave format.
  • The major sections of Diretta hardware will be benefit. It includes the USB, LAN port and CPU on Diretta and optical Isolator.
  • The addition of the external AfterDark. Giesemann 10M Master Clock can improve the soundstage and details of the Rosanna Diretta Network Bridge. The extraction of details from the background is just amazing and helps the DAC achieve the maxmium potential, balanced with enhanced timbre, full tone, and escpecially pace, rhythm and timing.

13. External Power Supply requirement for Rosanna Diretta Network Bridge

  • The Rosanna Diretta Network Bridge will requires external 5V Linear Power Supply rated at 2A for operating the modules.

Hi, working from home today, I can start to listen more to the unit (Rosanna with 10MHz reference clock). The reference clock use is a CyberShaft OP21A-D also reclocking my DAC, Diretta host, switches.
The unit ran for 2 days with Roon radio in a standard connection (Ethernet on the right port looking from the back of the product) and usb on a usb3 port.

This morning I plugged differently using the optical isolation : connect the 2 Ethernet ports between them with the small blue Ethernet cable from the package and a sfp connection (startech modules and FS fibre) between the Rosanna and my Diretta host (running under GentooPlayer 8.1). Could try later to connect the Rosanna to the switch in SFP.
Let’s continue to « burn » the unit.

@AfterDark. would it be possible to have internal picture of the Rosanna and you can tell us more what are the boards and what kind of job has been done by Afterdark ?
Any recommendation concerning the USB port to use : i understood that @begastor is using the vertical one instead of the USB 3 horizontal ones (did nod give a try from my side)

In order to work, diretta needs to pieces of hardware : a "target" which is in this case the Afterdark Rosanna, and a "host". This host can run under :

  • windows with the ASIO drivers provided by Afterdark
  • Linux using some OS like Gentooplayer or audiolinux that are onboarding the Diretta drivers. This host needs also to onboard a server (roon, UPnP, LMS, audirvana,...)

Your iPad can be used as a remote (with Roon, JPLAY iOS, audirvana, etc...).

As mentioned in a previous post by Afterdark, in order to make it run also on your Devialet Phantom, you need a DCC to convert the usb output of the Rosanna into a input the Devialet accept like SPDIF or TOSLINK.

Hope it clarifies.

Not completely, sorry.

The diretta rosanna is plug en play. Can i change the settings for Roon, Hq player and diretta just with my ipad like i do now with Roon on a NUC?

For my devialets i think i will go for an other dac or a good DCC to convert spdif or toslink

Not sure what means « plug and play ». Please clarify better your server settings if you want some help.

Diretta is recognized through roon, audirvana, hqplayer with the ASIO (windows) and ALSA drivers that needs to be installed on the server.

With such setup Diretta/Rosanna is recognized as an audio endpoint you can manage with Roon, HQPlayer, audirvana etc…with your ipad

Hi! Johnnydev,

Thanks for your message and questions.

As we know you are running Intel NUC with Roon Server, the Diretta Host software can be install and run in the same platform in Windows. So, you can access all the setting via Windows GUI.

After install the Diretta ASIO software, the Rosanna Diretta Network Bridge will becomes a Roon endpoint player, so after adding a USB DDC such as Gustard U18 or Mutec MC3+USB. This DDC can convert the digital signal to Optical Toslink for connecting the Devialets. The music can play via Roon with Ipad.

For HQPlayer it requires to purchase a license for HQPlayer 4 Desktop 4.21.1 Edition for Windows. All the setting in HQPlayer 4 Destop 4.21.1 is requires to access via Windows GUI.

https://www.signalyst.com/consumer.html

The Roon can support HQPlayer by enable the service as below: image.thumb.png.a0dbd085cccb677329e3321a87629e2d.png

Thanks and have a nice weekend.

Hi Patatorz,

Thanks for your message and questions.

There is three USB ports on the Rosanna Network Bridge. So audiophiles can connect up to three units of USB DAC or USB DDC to use with Diretta.

For USB ports they are controlled by one controller at the motherboard, so OCXO version will be optimised all three of the USB ports at the same time.

For best sounding, audiophiles is recommended to use USB 2.0 - a vertical one in white colour, USB2.0 generally run a lower frequency, which means it will be less noise when compared to USB3.0.

From time to time, we explore the tweaks and optimised the hardwares in the motherboard of Diretta. This including applying the EMI protector material on Lan and USB port and provide the anti-vibration and ground plate with Carbon Fiber.

We shall give you more details on how we enhance performance with additional AfterDark. BLACKICE ground box to connect at the back of Rosanna Diretta Network Bridge. This can improves sounding with direct grounding on digital sections on the motherboard with single point grounding point with external ground box. This grounding technology is called AfterDark. Project ClayX AudiophileMAT Digital Grounding.

https://www.adark.co/collections/project-blackice-grounding-box/products/afterdark-project-clayx-blackice-ground-box

More information on how we modified and enhance with the Diretta Target will be released time to time.

Thanks and have a nice weekend.

Best Regards,

Adrian

I can tell that the afterdark Blackice ground boxes are very good for better sound quality.

i have in my system one Cu and two silvers to my router/NUC and to my two Etherregen. It is a great upgrade!.

Hello @AfterDark.

I received my Diretta device with option 3, nice 😀

  • I downloaded and installed the Diretta ASIO driver on my host system (Windows 10 PC).
  • Connected on the Diretta device to the network via a USB to Ethernet adapter. Configured IPV6 and IPV4.
  • Connected the DAC (SPL audio Mercury) on vertical USB2 (white).
  • Connected the 5v power supply (KECES P6).

After the computer and DAC start, I turn on the 5v power supply, then the Diretta device with the rear switch.

On the rear panel of the Diretta device, I have the three LEDs lit, as below:
10
01
01

I open the Diretta ASIO app, select the Ethernet interface and click on "find"...

... And the nothing in "Connect Target" just AUTO!?

I tested many different configuration with another network adapter, new cables and all USB outputs. I also tested with a shared network configuration on the @Patatorz site, link below:
https://patatorz.com/2021/05/08/english-diretta-what-piece-of-hardware-you-need-and-how-to-setup-the-configuration/.

I also tested on an old SPL audio Crimson audio interface and also on my Luxury & Precision W2 portable DAC (which the one does not turn on when connected to the Diretta device). Regardless of the DAC, I always only have AUTO showing in the Diretta ASIO app.

Obviously when I directly connect one of the DACs via USB to the PC, they work and are recognized in Windows 10, on Qobuz or on ROON.

Do you have an idea ? 🙏
Thanks in advance.

Hello, the target will not be recognized if the host-target connection is not well done and if the USB dac is not recognized.
Could you elaborate more on how you connected the Rosanna to the host (cable, sfp or ethernet, through the host or through a switch…).

Few hints :

  • if you are using an ethernet connection, you need to use the ethernet port on the right close to the USB ports when looking to the back of the Rosanna
  • if you are using the SFP modules, you need to connect the 2 ethernet ports with the small ethernet blue cable inside the package.
  • The activities LED would work only with the SFP module.

Thanks

Here is the configuration used:

Internet box -> Ethernet / Ethernet cable -> Windows 10 PC -> USB / Ethernet adapter -> Ethernet / Ethernet cable -> Ethernet input right next to the SFP connector -> vertical USB connector (white) -> USB / USB cable -> DAC

As I said I have the LEDs which are displayed, from top to bottom (1 on / 0 off):
10
01
01

The Diretta ASIO application does not give any information on the connection status! The debug window doesn't show any more info when I click on the find button, probably for another purpose.

Thank you for your help 😉

@EmmanuelS as written above you have 2 options :

- the easiest one : connect the Ethernet cable coming from your host to the Ethernet port closest to the usb port where you mentioned « DAC@ on your picture. In this case everything should work fine and the asio driver should detect your rosanna

- you want to use the sfp port : you need to keep in mind that the sfp port and the Ethernet port close to the sfp are belonging to the same board. To enable the sfp port you need to connect the 2 Ethernet ports of the Rosanna with the small blue Ethernet cable in the package. When it is done you need to connect the sfp port to the host. In this case 1/ you need a sfp port on your host through a dedicated board or 2/ you can use a sfp/Ethernet adaptor like this one : https://amzn.eu/d/3Y8Y91x

Hope it helps

OMG 🙃 I just realized that the left block is the SFP/Ethernet adapter, hence the use of the mini-cable that bridges the adapter to the Diretta module's Ethernet input.

At the moment I don't have an SFP connection, so I'm using the Ethernet input of the Diretta module 😉

I have a led which is lit in this case:
00
00
01

Now, Windows 10 does not recognize the network  😱! I also tested with and without the “Auto Metric” with the value 100 in the “Interface Metric” field. It does not change anything !

An other idea?

Hello @EmmanuelS, as @One and a half mentioned you are using on your host a usb to Ethernet adaptor as you should miss one Ethernet port. I tested in the past and if I remember well it use to work.

You can do few things :

- if you have a switch and an Ethernet cable long enough, you can connect your Rosanna (the right Ethernet port when you are looking the backplate of the Rosanna) to the switch and let us know if some leds of the Ethernet port on the switch are blinking. You can check if the connection is well established in windows.

- keeping the setup you are trying, the Rosanna directly linked to your usb/Ethernet adaptor on the host, un plugged the 5V and relaunch your 5V and power on your Rosanna. Have a look to the LEDs on your usb adaptor and let us know if blinking but also to the windows Ethernet configuration and if you see the connection trying to be established. You can use this link (https://patatorz.com/2021/05/09/english-diretta-what-piece-of-hardware-you-need-and-how-to-setup-the-configuration-2/) to help to setup your windows setup including ipv6. Note that if you are using software like AudioPhile Optimizer, this one is disabling the ipv6 and you need to activate again like in the link.

Thanks for letting us know your findings
