Popular Post austinpop
@JoeWhip Great review! From your article, and the recently published Roon blog article, is my understanding of the full processing chain to the DXD release correct? analog microphones > analog mixing board (see Bob Ludwig's comments) > ADC (Horus with Merging + Clock U) to 32f/352.8 > editing (352.8) > mastering > 32f/352.8 release. Specifically, there is just the one conversion from analog to DXD, and no further format conversions? I must say, the SQ of this release is just outstanding. I have also bought the 32f DXD version from NativeDSD, as I really hope we see more 32-bit DXD releases in the future. I hope all AS'ers who support transparency of provenance, and the outstanding SQ of 32f DXD, will support the effort and buy this album. Finally, if you're a PGGB user, then I can tell you these 32f DXD albums upsample brilliantly. The Computer Audiophile and happybob 2 My Audio Setup Link to comment
austinpop
My bad, I did not listen/watch the Zoom interview. I’m more of a reader than a podcast consumer! I’ll give it a look. My Audio Setup Link to comment

No, actually NativeDSD offers the 32f DXD! Check it out. https://www.nativedsd.com/catalogue/albums/imp7002dxd-clique/ My Audio Setup Link to comment

It is not unreasonable that capture was done at 32bit but after mixing/etc it would be determined 24bit is the proper master output? From where are you quoting the above text? Do you have a link? If the original recording precision of 32-bit is being reduced to 24-bit, due to an intermediate "mix master," that would be disappointing. And it doesn't jive at all with the comments Jim Anderson and Ulrike Schwartz made in the Zoom interview embedded in Joe's review. My Audio Setup Link to comment
