The Computer Audiophile
Hi Guys, I had a power failure and now my QNAP NAS won't boot. After I pull the power cord, plug it back in and hit the power button, it says system booting for less than one second. Then it goes dark. It won't even come back on to give me that message unless I unplug it and do the same process. Any ideas? Anyone had this happen with a QNAP? The Computer Audiophile
This thing is now deader than a doornail. Can't get the display to even light up for half a second. No sound when I try to power it up either. Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment

Maybe it is the problem rather than the NAS itself. I don't have a UPS on this. I really should. I have an email into QNAP. I think it's the PSU that has failed. The Computer Audiophile
Required complete unit replacement. New PSU didn’t fix the issue. I popped the drives into new unit and all was ok. AudioDoctor 1 Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment

If the unit dies and the unit is obsolete then you might lose everything -- ie you can't buy a new unit. The business class QNAP units use Linux/ZFS as the filesystem. I have maintained a ZFS array for almost 20 years, moving it from Solaris to opensolaris/indiana, then Mac OS and finally to Linux ZFS were it now resides, swapping out hard drives along the way. I’m using QNAP QuTS operating system now and I believe it uses ZFS. Pretty cool. jabbr and AudioDoctor 1 1 Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment
