Upgrading Power Cable for Mid 2007 Mac mini - adapter needed?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I want to upgrade the power cable (wall to brick) on my Mid 2007 Mac mini. I haven't found a high quality cable that has the correct end that plugs into the brick. The closest thing I have encountered is the Audioquest cable for the 2010 mini, but the cable end is not correct...

I am thinking of trying an adapter so I can plug any high quality cable into the brick. This way, I can use the cable for other components down the road (instead of ending up with a cable with an end that isn't very common)...

Has anyone else done this, does it work? The adapter I am considering is: http://www.dedicatedaudio.com/inc/sdetail/10286. I've attached a pic of the cord's end and the brick for reference.

Any help/suggestions is appreciated.

Thanks,

Des

Hi Des,

I believe you are looking for a C5 adapter.

C5 connections are easy to spot. The cluster of three connectors looks like the outline of Mickey Mouse or a three-leaf clover.

Pangea makes a C5 adapter. Here is a link: http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo.asp?number=PGC5ADP%20%20%20CYRO

You should be able to use the power cord of your choice in conjunction with the C5 adapter.

Personally, I do not use any devices that have a C5 connector. However, I use a Pangea AC-14 C7 Signature power cable with an Apple Time Capsule and it works.

Best regards,

Chris
